Project Summary
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is developing the design for two roadway projects along State Road (SR) 90/US 41/SW 7 Street from east of SW 27 Avenue to Brickell Avenue in Miami-Dade County.
 
WORK TO BE PERFORMED:

SR 90/US 41/SW 7 Street from east of SW 27 Avenue to west of SW 2 Avenue

  • Widening the I-95 southbound (SB) off-ramp at SW 7 St to four lanes.
  • Closing SW 4 Avenue at SW 7 Street and converting the traffic pattern along SW 4 Avenue between SW 6 Street and SW 7 Street from one way southbound to two-lane, two-way traffic.
  • Widening SW 3 Avenue between SW 6 Street and SW 7 Street and converting the traffic pattern from one-way northbound to three-lane, two-way traffic.
  • Upgrading midblock crossing on SW 7 Street between SW 18 Avenue and SW 19 Avenue 
  • Enhancing signalization at several intersections and adding video detection systems
  • Replacing roadway and pedestrian signage, curb ramps and lighting at several intersections  
  • Upgrading stormwater systems
  • Repaving and restriping the road

SR 90/US 41/SW 7 Street from west of SW 2 Avenue to Brickell Avenue

  • Realigning the north side of South Miami Avenue
  • Extending the curb at SW 1 Court and the median at SW 2 Avenue
  • Modifying the south curb at SW 7 Street and 90 block
  • Adding new crosswalks at SW 1 Court and South Miami Avenue
  • Replacing signage, curb ramps and lighting
  • Reconstructing damaged driveways and sidewalks
  • Upgrading stormwater systems
  • Providing a pedestrian refuge island at Brickell Avenue
  • Repaving and restriping the road
MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC
During construction, temporary lane closures during non-peak hours and detours may affect traffic. Vehicular and pedestrian detours will be established with clear signage. Access to adjacent businesses and residences will be maintained.Work will be done in stages to minimize impacts and ensure traffic flows safely through the work zone. 
 
PUBLIC MEETING:
 
FDOT hosted an in-person and online Public meeting on November 12, 2024 at the Miami-Dade College Padron Campus.
