The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) began a roadway project the on January 3, 2024 along State Road (SR) 817/NW 27 Avenue in Miami-Dade County. Click here to sign up for construction alerts.
WORK TO BE PERFORMED:
- Constructing new crosswalks at the intersections of Superior Street, Burlington Street, Ali Baba Avenue, and NW 180 Terrace
- Installing handrails along the bridge over the Biscayne Canal
- Modifying traffic median to allow U-turns at NW 169 Terrace

Modifying traffic medians to restrict left turns at the following side streets:
- NW 169 Terrace
- NW 179 Street
- NW 186 Street
- Upgrading pedestrian and vehicular signals and signage
- Upgrading concrete sidewalks, curb ramps, and curb and gutters
- Upgrading light poles with new Light-emitting Diodes (LED’s)
- Repaving and restriping the roadway
LANE CLOSURE INFORMATION:
Travel lanes and sidewalks will be closed during non-peak hours on non-event days. Non-peak hours are:
- 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weekdays and weekends
- 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights
- 11 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., Friday and Saturday nights
DETOUR INFORMATION:
Pedestrian and vehicular detours will be established at times and may exceed past the non-peak lane closures hours. Specific detour information will be provided before the corresponding construction activity is scheduled.
