UPCOMING NIGHTTIME NORTHBOUND CLOSURES
The NORTHBOUND travel lane will be closed in Key Largo near MM 106 on the following nights:
Monday, December 1 through Thursday, December 4
The closure will begin each night at 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning.
Traffic will be detoured to Card Sound Road and tolls will be suspended during the closure.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) began a roadway project the week of August 26, 2024, along State Road (SR) 5/US 1/Overseas Highway from Jewfish Creek Bridge Mile Marker (MM) 108.4 to the Miami-Dade County Line (MM 112.8) in Monroe County.
WORK TO BE PERFORMED
- Repaving and restriping the roadway
- Upgrading and installing new guardrail
- Upgrading signage and pavement markings
- Reconfiguring right turn lanes at three locations to accommodate bicyclists
- Reconstructing sections of SR 5/US 1/Overseas Highway travel lanes from MM 108.4 to MM 112.8

GENERAL LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFORMATION
- Temporary widening of the travel lane will be constructed to accommodate a temporary travel lane while reconstruction is ongoing.
- To reconstruct the travel lanes, intermittent nightly road closures may be implemented and traffic will be detoured to Card Sound Road.
- Heavy truckloads will be prohibited from utilizing the Card Sound Road detour as a result of posted weight limitations and will be instructed to remain on US 1/Overseas Highway until through access can be provided.
- Advanced messaging will be provided. Specific detour information willbe provided before any corresponding activities are scheduled. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained. Information will be posted weekly on this webpage.
