The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to begin bridge replacement project during the week of October 8, 2024 along SR 90/SW 8 Street in Miami-Dade County.

COMMUNITIES

Installing a pedestrian bridge over SW 8 Street and the C-4 Canal to connect communities

Providing pedestrian plazas with elevators and stairs at the north and south plazas

Installing a signalized pedestrian crosswalk along SW 109 Avenue, north of SW 7 Terrace

Upgrading pedestrian signals, signage and curb ramps

Closing the hisorical bridge over C-4 canal and eliminating the pedestrian crosswalks at SW 8 Street and SW 109 Avenue

LANE CLOSURE INFORMATION
Work will be done in phases to reduce the effects of construction on the community.
Lanes can be closed during the following hours:
- 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights
- 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., Friday and Saturday nights
Roadway lane closures and detours will be established during any overhead work and as necessary to ensure safety during construction.
Travel lanes on both directions will be shifted south to create a work zone on the north side of the roadway. The number of lanes will remain the same.
- Adding a pedestrian crosswalk along SW 109 Avenue, south of SW 7 Street
- Directing pedestrians to use the historic bridge on the east side of SW 109 Avenue to cross the C-4 Canal
- Directing pedestrians to use the north-south crosswalk on the east side of SW 8 Street
