The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has begun a roadway project along SR 5/US 1/South Dixie Highway in Miami-Dade County.

COMMUNITIES

  • Reconstructing concrete sidewalks and driveways

     

SAFETY

  • Installing detectable warning surfaces and upgrading pedestrian signalization

  • Replacing traffic guardrails


RESILIENCY

  • Improving stormwater drainage on the north side of SW 98 Street and the south side of SW 90 Street


SUPPLY CHAIN

  • Repaving and restriping the roadway

 


TECHNOLOGY

  • Installing traffic detection equipment onto existing traffic signals

  • Upgrading existing light poles with light-emiting diodes (LED) at various locations


WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

  • This project creates opportunities for contractors resulting in positive economic benefits for workers and the community 
 

 
LANE CLOSURE INFORMATION
 
Work will be done in phases to reduce the effects of construction on the community.  Lanes can be closed during the following hours:
  • 9 a.m. to 3:30 a.m., weekdays and weekends
  • 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights
  • 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., Friday and Saturday nights
Access to businesses and residences will be maintained. Lane closure information is posted weekly on the department's website, www.southflroads.com.
 
DETOUR INFORMATION
 
Pedestrian and vehicular detours will be established at times and may exceed past the non-peak lane closures hours. Specific detour information will be provided before the corresponding construction activity is scheduled.
