The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin the third of four Okeechobee Road Reconstruction Projects (Segment Three) in spring 2025.

WORK TO BE PERFORMED:

Reconstructing State Road (SR) 25/US 27/Okeechobee Road using concrete pavement
Widening SR 25/US 27/Okeechobee Road and the bridges over the Miami Canal
Modifying the intersection of NW 95 Street and Frontage Road by providing:
- Through lane to continue west along Frontage Road
- Free-flow lane along eastbound Okeechobee Road
Providing new access from Frontage Road to westbound SR 25/US 27/Okeechobee Road
Installing a new sidewalk from west of NW 95 Street to west of West 18 Avenue
Providing additional turn lanes at the intersection of West 18 Avenue as follows:
- Left-turn lane from eastbound SR 25/US 27/Okeechobee Road to northbound West 18 Avenue
- Right-turn lane from southbound West 18 Avenue to westbound SR 25/US 27/Okeechobee Road
Adding a right-turn lane from SR 826/Palmetto Expressway off-ramp and NW S River Dr intersection toward eastbound SR 25/US 27/Okeechobee Road. Allowing motorists to bypass the West 18 Avenue intersection
Adding three new flyover ramps at SR 826/Palmetto Expressway Interchange:
- Northbound SR 826/Palmetto Expressway to westbound SR 25/US 27/Okeechobee Road
- Eastbound SR 25/US 27/Okeechobee Road to southbound SR 826/Palmetto Expressway
- Eastbound SR 25/US 27/Okeechobee Road to northbound SR 826/Palmetto Expressway
- Turn lanes will be added at the ramp intersections

LANE CLOSURE INFORMATION:

Travel lanes may be closed during nonpeak hours and on nonevent days. Nonpeak hours are:

9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weekdays and weekends
9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights
11 p.m. to 7 a.m., Friday and Saturday nights

Please note, there are two adjacent project segments underway with additional lane closures that may affect the traffic flow and cause delays in this area.

General Lane Closures

Closures may take place Monday through Saturday during the following hours:
- 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays and weekends
- 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on weekdays.
- 11 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. on weekends.
The dedicated right-turn lane, along NW South River Dr, to access the southbound SR 826/Palmetto Expressway on-ramp will be removed. Motorists will still be able to make right turn to access the on-ramp from the remaining travel lane. This removal will allow the crew to perform bridge demolition and widening.
Travel lanes along southbound State Road (SR) 25/US 27/Okeechobee Road, between NW95 Street and NW 79 Avenue, will be shifted north to create space for a new work zone. In addition, southbound travel lanes on the NW 79 Avenue bridge will be reduced from three lanes to two.
Travel lanes along Frontage Road from NW 95 Street to NW 77 Avenue have been shifted south onto temporary pavement. This shift will be in place for approximately six months to allow for the reconstruction of Frontage Road. Access to businesses will be maintained at all times.
