The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin a roadway project the week of May 6, 2025 along SR 953/LeJeuene Road/42 Avenue in Miami-Dade County.

FDOT is committed to ensuring the State’s infrastructure serves residents, businesses, and visitors to meet their current and future transportation needs. Benefits of this project include:

COMMUNITIES

  • Constructing a new median opening in the northbound direction of SW 3 Street to increase spacing with the
    median opening at SW 2 Street
  • Relocating the existing driveway at the southwest corner of NW 3 Street to allow for a new crosswalk
    at the south leg of the intersection
  • Relocating palm trees located on the median between SW 6 Street and SW 2 Terrace

SAFETY

  • Modifying median access at SW 5 Terrace to a southbound directional opening to allow left-turns and U-turn movements
    Closing the median openings at SW 4 Street and SW 2 Terrace
  • Modifying bi-directional median opening at SW 2 Street to a northbound directional median opening
  • Increasing capacity of the southbound left-turn at SW 8 Street and W Flagler Street
  • Upgrading pedestrian push buttons and signalization

RESILIENCY

  • Improving stormwater drainage
  • Repairing damaged sidewalks and driveways

 


SUPPLY CHAIN

  • Upgrading signage and pavement markings
  • Repaving and restriping the roadway
  • This project invests in roadway facilities to maintain the movement of goods and services our community and beyond 

TECHNOLOGY

  • Updating street lighting to light-emitting diode (LED) technology

  • Enhancing traffic signals


WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

  • This project creates opportunities for contractors resulting in positive economic benefits for workers and the community 

 


LANE CLOSURE INFORMATION

Work will be done in phases to reduce the effects of construction on the community.

Lanes can be closed during the following hours:

  • 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights
  • 11 p.m. to 9 a.m., Friday & Saturday nights

Access to businesses and residences will be maintained. Pedestrian and vehicular detours will be established with clear signage. Lane closure information is posted weekly on the department's website, www.southflroads.com.

DETOUR INFORMATION
 
Pedestrian and vehicular detours will be established at times and may exceed past the non-peak lane closures hours. Specific detour information will be provided before the corresponding construction activity is scheduled.
