The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to begin a landscaping project on Monday, October 6, 2025, along State Road (SR) 5/US 1/Overseas Highway from Mile Marker (MM) 75.02 to MM 81.44, in the Village of Islamorada, Monroe County. FDOT is committed to ensuring the state’s infrastructure serves residents, businesses, and visitors, to meet their needs now and in the future. Key areas include safety, resiliency, supply chain, technology, and workforce development. The following benefits are included in this project:
COMMUNITIES
- Adding landscape improvements along the project limits
RESILIENCY
- Enhancing landscaping along the corridor to help reduce roadside ponding
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
- This project creates opportunities for contractors, which results in positive economic benefits for the workers and the community
