The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to begin a ramp rehabilitation project the week of June 4, 2025 along SR 970/Downtown Distributor Ramps in Miami-Dade County.

COMMUNITIES

  • Enhancing mobility and connectivity by improving bridge conditions, helping maintain reliable access for residents and commuters 


SAFETY

  • Replacing traffic railing and barriers for roadside protection for motorists

  • Performing concrete repairs to improve surface conditions

  • Replacing bearing pads to stabilize bridge components

  • Upgrading bridge expansion joints


RESILIENCY

  • Reparing damaged concrete on the bridge deck Performing concrete repairs to improve surface conditions

  • Rehabilitating reinforcing and structural steel on the bridge

  • Protecting the bridge's surface with a coating that helps prevent moisture damage


SUPPLY CHAIN

  • Repaving and restriping the roadway

  • Improving structural reliability of the bridge facilities facilitates the movement of goods, serving residents and contributing to the supply chain


TECHNOLOGY

  • Using durable materials and modern treatment techniques to enhance infrastructure performance and longevity
     


WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

  • This project creates opportunities for contractors resulting in positive economic benefits for workers and the community

LANE CLOSURE INFORMATION

Work will be done in phases to reduce the effects of construction on the community.

Lanes can be closed during the following hours:

Single-lane closures may be in place:

  • 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights

Full ramp closures will be in place for certain work activities:

  • 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights
Local roadway closures (SE 1 Avenue, SW 2 Street, SW 2 Avenue, SW 1 Street, W Flagler Street):
  • 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights

Access to businesses and residences will be maintained. Pedestrian and vehicular detours will be established with clear signage. Lane closure information is posted weekly on the department's website, www.southflroads.com.

DETOUR INFORMATION
 
Pedestrian and vehicular detours will be established at times and may exceed past the non-peak lane closures hours. Specific detour information will be provided before the corresponding construction activity is scheduled.
