The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has begun a bridge rehabilitation project along State Road (SR) 913/Rickenbacker Causeway Flyover Bridge in Miami-Dade County.

This project is incorporated as one of three distinct construction projects all taking place simultaneously within the same regions. The additional projects include the SR 9A/I-95 Ramp Improvement project, which construction activities are currently underway, and the SR 913/SW and SE 26 Road Roadway project estimated to commence during late 2024. 

Project details for the SR 913/Rickenbacker Causeway Flyover Bridge Rehabilitation Project are as follows:
 
WORK TO BE PERFORMED
  • Replacing portions of the concrete bridge deck on ramps to northbound SR 9A/I-95 and southbound SR 5/US 1/S Dixie Hwy
  • Cleaning and painting bridge structures
  • Replacing bridge expansion joints
  • Replacing pavement markings and reflective pavement markers

LANE CLOSURE INFORMATION

Lane closures, ramp closures and detours are allowed during non-peak hours on non-event days/weekends. Non-peak hours are:

  • 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays and weekends
  • 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday Nights
  • 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Friday and Saturday Night
  • Concrete removal work will be allowed during the daytime from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. using the ramp closure detour
Please note that this schedule could change due to bad weather or other unexpected conditions

BRIDGE CLOSURE AND DETOUR INFORMATION

Detours will be established and clearly marked during these closures. Sidewalk closures detours will be established as needed. Access to and from adjacent neighborhoods and businesses will be maintained.

 

SOUTHBOUND RAMP TO SR 5/US 1 CLOSURE: JULY 8 AT 1 A.M. THROUGH JULY 20 AT 6 A.M.

 

The ramp from westbound Rickenbacker Causeway to southbound SR 5/US 1 will be closed from Monday, July 8 through Saturday, July 20.

 

During this closure, the ramp from westbound Rickenbacker Causeway to northbound SR 9A/I-95 will remain open.

 


NORTHBOUND RAMP TO SR 9A/I-95 CLOSURE: JULY 21 AT 10 P.M. THROUGH AUGUST 3 AT 6 A.M.
 
The ramp from westbound Rickenbacker Causeway to northbound SR 9A/I-95 will be closed from Sunday, July 21 through Saturday, August 3.
 
During this closure, the ramp from westbound Rickenbacker Causeway to southbound SR 5/US 1 will remain open.
