Project Summary
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) began a pedestrian safety improvement project on July 7, 2026, along State Road (S.R.) 817/NW 27 Avenue from Sesame Street to Dunad Avenue, in Miami-Dade County.
Project Scope of Work
- Adding a midblock pedestrian crosswalk between Sesame Street and Dunad Avenue
- Installing new signals and signage for the crosswalk
- Reconstructing concrete sidewalks and curb ramps
- Repaving and restriping to preserve the service life of the road
- Installing lighting improvements
- Modifying landscaping on the existing median
Lane Closure Information
Work will be done in phases to reduce the effects of construction on the community. Lanes can be closed during the following hours:
Single lane closures, weekdays and weekends:
- 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
Dual lane closures, weekdays and weekends:
- 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
Access to businesses and residences will be maintained at all times. Pedestrian and vehicular detours will be established with clear signage.
