S.R. 817/NW 27 Avenue from Sesame Street to Dunad Avenue Pedestrian Safety Improvement Project

PROJECT SUMMARY:

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin a pedestrian safety improvement project on June 22, 2026, along State Road (S.R.) 817/NW 27 Avenue from Sesame Street to Dunad Avenue, in Miami-Dade County.

PROJECT SCOPE OF WORK:

• Adding a midblock pedestrian crosswalk between Sesame Street and Dunad Avenue
• Installing new signals and signage for the crosswalk
• Reconstructing concrete sidewalks and curb ramps
• Repaving and restriping to preserve the service life of the road
• Installing lighting improvements
• Modifying landscaping on the existing median                                           

LANE CLOSURE INFORMATION:

Work will be done in phases to reduce the effects of construction on the community. Lanes can be closed during the following hours:

Single lane closures, weekdays and weekends:

• 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Dual lane closures, weekdays and weekends:

• 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Access to businesses and residences will be maintained at all times. Pedestrian and vehicular detours will be established with clear signage.
