Wrong-Way Driving Initiative

About
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has begun Phase 1 of constructing a new detection system at 11 expressway entrance and exit ramps throughout Miami-Dade County, as part of its ongoing Statewide Wrong-Way Driving Initiative.
WORK TO BE PERFORMED:
- Installing Light-emitting Diode (LED) highlighted signs
- Installing vehicle detection systems
- Upgrading pavement markings
- Milling and resurfacing the off-ramps
- Installing high emphasis crosswalks
- Upgrading existing medians along arterial roads, connecting to the off-ramps

State Road (SR) 826/Palmetto Expressway
- NB off-ramp to NW 36 Street
- NB off-ramp to NW 25 Street
- NB off-ramp to SW 8 Street
- NB off-ramp to West Flagler Street
- SR 826 NB/SR 836 EB off-ramp to NW 72 Avenue
State Road (SR) 9A/I-95
- SB off-ramp to NW 69 Street
- SB off-ramp to Opa-Locka Boulevard
- SB off-ramp to NW 81 Street
- NB off-ramp to NW 151 Street
State Road (SR) 112/ and SR 93/I-75:
- SR 112/I-195/Julia Tuttle Causeway off-ramp to Alton Road North
- SR 93/I-75 SB off-ramp to NW 138 Street/West 84 Street
LANE CLOSURE INFORMATION:
Travel lanes shall be closed only during non-peak hours on non-event days. Non-peak hours are:
- 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights
- 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., Friday and Saturday nights
DETOUR INFORMATION:
During this project, it will be necessary to establish detours for specific construction activities. Please follow all posted signage throughout the work zone.
