S.R. 5/U.S. 1/Biscayne Boulevard from NE 123 Street to NE 163 Street

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is developing the design for a roadway safety project along State Road (S.R.) 5/U.S. 1/Biscayne Boulevard from NE 123 Street to NE 163 Street in Miami-Dade County. 

WORK TO BE PERFORMED:

• Providing signalized midblock crosswalks at two (2) locations: north of NE 124 Street and north of NE 127 Street.
• Closing the northbound (NB) U-turn at the existing midblock crosswalk at NE 141 Street, including signal modifications and replacement of the NB mast arm at NE 143 Street.
• Installing curb extensions and realigning crosswalks at NE 126 Street, NE 151 Street, and NE 163 Street, including relocation of drainage structures in the southwest corner of NE 163 Street
• Installing special emphasis crosswalks at Highland Drive, NE 146 Street and NE 156 Street
• Adding a westbound (WB) right overlap at NE 151 Street 
• Installing speed feedback signs
• Implementing additional pedestrian signal improvements at Highland Drive, the 14100 Biscayne Boulevard midblock crosswalk, NE 146 Street, and NE 156 Street
• Implementing leading pedestrian intervals at the signalized intersections at NE 123rd Street, NE 135th Street, NE 143rd Street, NE 151st Street, and NE 163rd Street

MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC

During construction, temporary lane closures during non-peak hours and detours may affect traffic. Access to adjacent businesses and residences will be maintained. Potential pedestrian detours will be clearly marked.

Single lane closures: 10:30 P.M. to 8:30 A.M.

Dual lane closures: 11:30 PM to 7:00 AM
