About

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is developing the design for a roadway project along State Road (S.R.) 953/Le Jeune Road/SW 42 Avenue from SW 40 Street to SW 8 Street, in Miami-Dade County.

WORK TO BE PERFORMED: 
The project consists of roadway resurfacing, ADA improvements, and safety enhancements along S.R. 953 (LeJeune Road) from north of Altara Avenue to south of SW 8 Street. The goal is to preserve infrastructure, enhance safety, and improve accessibility.

  • Constructing new raised medians at various locations for safety improvements
  • Widening the outside lane along LeJeune Road from SW 9 Street to SW 8 Street to provide an additional through lane in the northbound direction 
  • Reconstructing curb ramps and upgrading detectable warning surface
  • Installing high-visibility crosswalks at signalized intersections.
  • Upgrading pedestrian signalization
  • Constructing a new signalized intersection at SW 16 Street
  • Installing new lighting for the proposed crosswalk on the south leg of Sevilla Avenue and the new signalized intersection at SW 16 Street
  • Reconstructing drainage inlets to address widening between SW 9 Street and SW 8 Street
  • Milling and resurfacing the roadway
  • Upgrading roadway signage and pavement markings 

MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC: 

Work will be done in phases to reduce the effects of construction on the community. Lanes can be closed during the following hours:'

Monday night through Friday night 10:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.

Access to businesses and residences will be maintained at all times. Pedestrian and vehicular detours will be established with clear signage
