PROJECT WORK SCOPE

FDOT is committed to ensuring the State’s infrastructure serves residents, businesses, and visitors to meet their current and future transportation needs. Benefits of this project include:

  • Enhancing pedestrian safety along S.R. 5/U.S. 1/Biscayne Boulevard at the following locations:
  • NE 85 Street, between NE 83 Street, NE 83 Terrace, NE 74 Street, NE 72 Street, and NE 18 Street
  • Replacing existing Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) with a new signalized midblock crossing
  • Modifying vehicular parking spaces throughout the corridor
  • Installing pedestrian signals, signage, curb ramps, and detectable warning surfaces
  • Repaving and restriping to preserve the surface life of the road
  • Installing pedestrian detection equipment to improve traffic signal operations

LANE CLOSURE INFORMATION

Travel lanes and sidewalks will be closed during non-peak hours on non-event days. Non-peak hours are:

  • S.R. 5/Biscayne Boulevard at NE 18 Street, NE 72 Street, NE 74 Street, the 8300 Block and NE 85 Street
  • 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., weekdays and weekends
  • 7 p.m. to 8 a.m., weekdays and weekends
