About

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to begin a roadway project on January 20, 2026, along State Road (S.R.) 886/Port Boulevard from S.R. 5/Biscayne Boulevard to PortMiami in Miami-Dade County.

COMMUNITY

  • Replacing sidewalks and the median concrete barrier

 


SAFETY

  • Upgrading vehicular and pedestrian signals, signs, and pavement markings
  • Upgrading curb ramps, traffic railings, and shoulder barriers
  • Installing new detectable warning surfaces

RESILIENCY

  • Replacing the concrete pavement
  • Replacing and restriping to preserve the surface life of the road

 


SUPPLY CHAIN

  • Converting the single through/left lane to a dedicated left-turn lane at NE 5 Street
  • Converting the existing through lane to a through/left-turn lane at NE 5 Street

 


TECHNOLOGY

  • Enhancing the traffic signals at all signalized intersections

 


WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

  • This project creates opportunities for contractors, which resulted in positive economic benefits for the workers and the community

 


LANE CLOSURE INFORMATION

Work will be done in phases to reduce the effects of construction on the community. Lanes can be closed during the following hours on non-event days:

  • Single and double-lane closures along S.R. 886/Port Boulevard:
  • 5 p.m. to 5 a.m., Tuesdays through Thursdays
  • Single and double-lane closures along S.R. 5/Biscayne Boulevard:
  • 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sundays through Thursdays
  • 11 p.m. to 9 a.m., Fridays and Saturdays
