Project Summary

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is delivering a Resurfacing, Restoration, and Rehabilitation (RRR) project along SR 5/US 1/North Roosevelt Boulevard in the City of Key West to preserve and extend the service life of the corridor and improve safety for all users. Improvements include roadway resurfacing, pedestrian and signal upgrades, and resiliency enhancements to address tidal flooding, with construction phased to maintain access and minimize impacts.

COMMUNITIES

  • Repaving and restriping the road
  • Installing decorative lighting

 


SAFETY

  • Reconstructing sidewalk and accessible pedestrian curb ramp
  • Installing signage and pavement marking
  • Replacing traffic and pedestrian signals at the intersection

 

RESILIENCY

  • Raising of the roadway pavement a minimum of six inches
  • Localized pavement reconstruction along Truman Avenue, North Roosevelt Boulevard and Jose Martí Drive
  • Installing a new drainage pump station system and upgrading storm drainage for tidal flooding
  • Raising the sea wall approximately 24 inches along Jose Martí Drive

MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC

Work will be done in phases to reduce the effects of construction in the area. During construction activities on the deck, two lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained. Temporary lane closures during non-peak hours will affect traffic. Access to adjacent businesses and residences, as well as bike and pedestrian accommodations will be maintained.
