Project Summary

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) began a roadway project on August 31, 2026, at the State Road (S.R.) 969/NW 72 Avenue and S.R. 948/NW 36 Street intersection, in Miami-Dade County. 


 
Project Scope of Work
 
  • Extending the existing westbound merge lane along NW 36 Street​
  • Widening the southbound left-turn lanes along NW 72 Avenue​
  • Repaving and restriping to preserve the service life of the road​
  • Upgrading stormwater drainage infrastructure ​
  • Installing traffic signal visibility improvements ​
  • Adding high-emphasis crosswalks at the intersection ​
  • Installing vehicular and pedestrian signage​
  • Upgrading the existing lighting system
 

 
Lane Closure Information
 

Work will be done in phases to reduce the effects of construction on the community. Lanes can be closed during the following hours: 

  • 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., weekdays 
  • 8 p.m. to 9 a.m., weekends 

Access to businesses and residences will be maintained at all times. Pedestrian and vehicular detours will be established with clear signage. Weekly lane closure updates are posted at www.SouthFLRoads.com. 


 
Detour Information
 
A full closure of westbound lanes along NW 36 Street will be implemented on an as-needed basis for drainage work. Traffic control professionals and police will be on sight to guide traffic. Please follow all posted detour signs and navigate the project area with caution.
