The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise have started construction of the GGI Project, in northwest Miami-Dade County. The project will enhance regional mobility by revitalizing this major transportation hub, which includes connections to five essential roadway systems in the South Florida area: State Road (SR) 9A/I-95, SR 826/Palmetto Expressway, SR 91/Florida’s Turnpike, SR 9 and SR 7/US 441/NW 7 Avenue.

WORK TO BE PERFORMED

• Constructing 32 new bridges including a new flyover ramp from eastbound Palmetto Expressway to northbound I-95
• Installing more than 50,000 feet of new drainage pipe
• Improving connections to the Golden Glades Multimodal Transportation Facility
• Installing wrong-way vehicle detection systems at various locations
• Installing 72 traffic monitoring cameras
• Updating lighting

LANE CLOSURE INFORMATION

To do this work safely, it will be necessary to shift traffic, close lanes and detour traffic at times. Special events will be considered when scheduling closures. Real-time lane closure information will be available to drivers through their preferred navigation apps such as Google Maps, Apple Maps and Waze.
