The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) began a pedestrian project on August 21, 2025 along S.R. A1A/Harding Avenue between 87 Street and 87 Terrace and 90 Street SR A1A/Collins Avenue at 89 Street in Miami-Dade County

COMMUNITY

  • Constructing pedestrian ramps at signalized crossings
  • Constructing a mid-block crossing at S.R. A1A/Harding Avenue at 89 Street and 90 Street and S.R. A1A/Collins Avenue at 89 Street

 

SAFETY

  • Installing a traffic signal at S.R. A1A/Harding Avenue at 89 Street and 90 Street and S.R. A1A/Collins Avenue at 89 Street
  • Installing Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) at S.R. A1A/Harding Avenue between 87 Street and 87 Terrace 
  • Relocating the bus stop shelter between 87 Street and 87 Terrace further north

 

RESILIENCY

  • Widening the sidewalk on the west side of S.R. A1A/Harding Avenue between 87 Street and 87 Terrace
  • Repaving and restriping the intersection

 

TECHNOLOGY

  • Upgrading existing light poles with light-emitting diodes (LED)

 

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

  • This project creates opportunities for contractors, which results in positive economic benefits for the workers and the community

LANE CLOSURE INFORMATION

Work will be done in phases to reduce the effects of construction on the community. Lane closures shall occur during non-peak hours on non-event days/weekends. 
Single lane closures along S.R. A1A/Harding Avenue may occur:
  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday - Friday
  • 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., Monday - Thursday
Single closures along S.R. A1A/Collins Avenue may occur:
  • 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday - Friday
  • 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., Monday - Thursday
Dual lane closures along S.R. A1A/Harding Avenue or S.R. A1A/Collins Avenue may only occur during nighttime work hours.
