The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) began a bridge project along State Road (SR) 5/US 1/Overseas Highway on the Channel 5 Bridge, on March 8, 2021, in Monroe County.

Nighttime single-lane intermittent closures will be in effect Sunday through Thursday, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., February 1 through February 5, 2026.

During this bridge repair work, flaggers will periodically stop traffic in one direction to allow vehicles from the opposite direction to pass safely. At times, traffic in both directions may be stopped for up to 15 minutes to accommodate special bridge operations.

WORK TO BE PERFORMED

• Repairing columns underneath the bridge
• Replacing bridge bearing pads and repairing surrounding concrete

LANE CLOSURE INFORMATION

Travel lanes and sidewalks will be closed only during non-peak hours on non-event days. Non-peak hours include:

• 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights.
