PROJECT COMPLETED IN NOVEMBER 2018

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has begun a roadway construction project on State Road (SR) 977/Krome Avenue from SR 94/SW 88 Street/Kendall Drive to north of SR 90/SW 8 Street/Tamiami Trail in Miami-Dade County.

WORK TO BE PERFORMED

SR 977/Krome Avenue:

  • Widening the road from two lanes to four lanes
  • Installing a 40-foot media
  • Installing a new drainage system
  • Installing guardrail throughout the project limits
  • Installing plastic poles between northbound and southbound travel lanes to increase awareness and discourage passing
  • Constructing a new multi-use trail for walking and biking

SR 94//SW 88 Street/Kendall Drive

  • Realigning the intersection
  • Reconstructing the  roadway and shoulders
  • Upgrading signage, lighting and traffic signals

SR 90/SW 8 Street/Tamiami Trail

  • Realigning the intersection
  • Widening the bridge over the C-4 Tamiami Canal
  • Upgrading signage, lighting and traffic signals

Plastic poles will be installed between northbound and southbound travel lanes to increase awareness and discourage passing. A new multi-use trail for walking and biking will be constructed and guardrail installed throughout the corridor.

LANE CLOSURE AND DETOUR INFORMATION

To complete this work safely, it will be necessary to close travel lanes at times. Lane closures are scheduled to occur as follows:

  • 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. — Sunday through Thursday
  • 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. — Fridays and Saturdays
