The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) began a roadway project on October 13, 2025 along State Road (S.R.) 5/U.S. 1/Biscayne Boulevard from NE 61 Street to NE 6 Avenue, in Miami-Dade County.

  • Reconstructing damaged sidewalks at signalized intersections

  • Installing high-emphasis crosswalks and detectable warning surfaces

  • Adjusting existing manholes within the project limits to align with the final roadway surface

  • Repaving and restriping to preserve the service life of the road
  • Upgrading vehicular and pedestrian signals, signage, and pavement markings

 

TECHNOLOGY

  • Installing missing pedestrian signal countdown timers within the project limits

 

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

  • This project creates opportunities for contractors, which resulted in positive economic benefits for the workers and the community

 

 

LANE CLOSURE INFORMATION

Travel lanes and sidewalks shall only be closed during non-peak hours on non-event days. Non-peak hours are:

  • S.R. 5/U.S. 1/Biscayne Boulevard from NE 61 Street to NE 64 Street:
  • 11:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., weekends and weekdays
  • S.R. 5/U.S. 1/Biscayne Boulevard from NE 64 Street to NE 6 Avenue
  • 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weekends and weekdays
  • 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., weekends and weekdays
