Bridge Rehabilitation Projects Begin on SR 5/US 1/Overseas Highway
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) started a bridge rehabilitation project on three bridges in Monroe County. The bridges extend along State Road (SR) 5/US 1/Overseas Highway over the North Harris Channel near Mile Marker (MM) 17.5, Spanish Harbor Channel near MM 33, and Bahia Honda Channel near MM 36. The current combined construction cost is $25.8 million and will take five years to complete. Work includes structural rehabilitation repairs to extend the service life of the bridges.
