The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has begun developing the design for the modification of SR 25/Okeechobee Road Interchange with the SR 826/Palmetto Expressway.
WORK TO BE PERFORMED
Three new flyover ramps including:
- Northbound SR 826/Palmetto Expressway to westbound SR 25/Okeechobee Road
- Eastbound SR 25/Okeechobee Road to southbound SR 826/Palmetto Expressway
- Eastbound SR 25/Okeechobee Road to northbound SR 826/Palmetto Expressway
Addition of turn lanes at the ramp intersections
Improvements at the W 18 Avenue intersection to provide:
- An additional left turn lane from eastbound SR 25/Okeechobee Road to northbound W 18 Avenue
- An additional right turn lane from southbound W 18 Avenue to westbound SR 25/Okeechobee Road
MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC (MOT)
The MOT will be designed to minimize adverse impacts to local residents and businesses during construction. Detours and temporary lane closures during non-peak hours will have minimal effects on traffic.
PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT
The public involvement process is designed to ensure public input by actively encouraging and facilitating the involvement of the general public, citizens, interested groups, elected and appointed officials, agencies, and other stakeholders. Opportunities to comment include communication with project staff and attending public meetings.
