Welcome

Project Overview

The project corridor is located within the City of Miami and Unincorporated Miami-Dade County. SR 934/ NW/NE 79th Street is predominantly bordered by commercial properties.  SR 934/ NW/NE 81st/82nd Street traverses a combination of residential and commercial areas; most of the commercial development occurs at or near major intersections.  The project corridor is also located within the Miami-Dade County Enterprise Zone and the NW/NE 79th Street Corridor Community Redevelopment Area. In addition, the area north of SR 934/NW/NE 79th Street and west of Miami Avenue falls within the Miami-Dade County designated "West Little River Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area"; the area directly south of SR 934/NW/NE 79th Street and west of NW 7th Avenue is designated by Miami-Dade County as the "Model City Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area".  Improvements along the SR 934 corridor are intended to stimulate economic redevelopment within the overall area while balancing livability enhancements with mobility needs, traffic operations, and safety concerns.

Project Purpose

The primary purpose of this project is to improve capacity deficiencies/traffic operations and multimodal use along SR 934/NW/NE 79th Street and NW/NE 81st/82nd Street from NW 17th Avenue to N. Bayshore Drive in order to address existing congestion and future travel demand, including safety conditions.  A major objective of the project is to achieve a balance between the "Complete Streets/Livability Goals" of the local community and both local and regional "Mobility Goals".
