The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is developing the design for a bascule bridge replacement project along State Road (SR) 968/SW 1 Street from SW 6 Avenue to SW 2 Avenue, in Miami-Dade County. 


  • Replacing the existing bascule bridge
  • Providing a new tender house
  • Providing new bridge approach spans
  • Reconstructing the roadway within project limits
  • Raising and reconnecting the existing catwalks to the historic adjacent building
  • Provide sidewalk connections to bridge deck and Miami Greenway under the new bridge
  • Relocating utilities within project limits
  • Updating sidewalks, ramps and pedestrian crossings to current standards
  • Improving drainage and lighting within project limits
