Where is the project located?
- The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is reconstructing SR 25/US 27/Okeechobee Road from the Broward County Line to SR 826/Palmetto Expressway. To minimize impacts to the community, the project is divided into seven individual segments. Click to view the corridor wide map.
What is the purpose of the reconstruction?
- FDOT’s goal with the SR 25/US 27/Okeechobee Road reconstruction is to improve safety, mobility and ease congestion along the 10-mile corridor.
What are the major improvements to the corridor?
- Major improvements to the corridor include: reconstructing the NW 116 Way intersection to cross Okeechobee Road via second level overpass; constructing a three level interchange at the NW 87 Avenue intersection; adding three new flyover ramps for direct access to and from the Palmetto Interchange.
What is the estimated cost of the reconstruction?
- There are six construction project segments, two are managed by the Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise and the remaining four by the FDOT. Each project segment has an individual preliminary cost. How long will it take to complete?
- There are six construction project segments, two are managed by the Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise and the remaining four by the FDOT. How will the traffic flow be maintained throughout construction?
- The construction crews will mainly work within protected work areas, keeping the same number of lanes open.
- Minimizing lane closures to the allowable non-peak hours.
- Coordination between project segments to avoid consecutive closures.
- Providing advance notice and traffic alerts to the community and motorists about upcoming closures and traffic shifts.

- This project website houses all information about each project segment. From here anyone can view each individual project segment webpage, download project documents, and see real time traffic alerts and current project activities.

Will access be provided to my business during construction?
- Yes, access to neighborhoods and businesses will be maintained at all times. In the event that a driveway must be worked on, the community outreach team will reach out to that property owner and coordinate the closure, at the owner’s convenience.
What do I do if construction activities, vehicles or materials damage my vehicle and/or property?
- Properly document the damages with photos and consider filing a police report.
- Contact the Senior Community Outreach Specialist and provide all the information. A damage claim form will be provided, please fill it out and submit it as soon as possible.
- FDOT will provide an “Acknowledgement of Property Damage” Letter stating that your claim was received; however, all documentation will be forwarded to the project’s contractor, who will handle the claim. Damages occurring within project areas will be reviewed and responded to by the assigned contractor, not by FDOT.
