The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is developing the design for a pedestrian crosswalk and refuge island to cross SR 5/US 1/Biscayne Boulevard at NE 66 Street, in Miami-Dade County. The scope of work for this project is listed in the enclosed public hearing notification. The project has not yet been programmed for construction.
WORK TO BE PERFORMED
- Installing a marked crosswalk with median refuge island crossing SR 5/US 1/Biscayne Boulevard along the south side of NE 66 Street. This will restrict northbound-to-westbound left turns at NE 66 Street
- Reconstructing the southeast corner of SR 5/ US 1/ Biscayne Boulevard and NE 66 Street to extend the curb and provide sidewalk ramps
- Installing crosswalk lighting and rectangular rapid-flashing beacons
- Removing the existing mid-block crosswalk and signal between NE 66 Street and NE 67 Street
