PROJECT SUMMARY:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is developing the design for a roadway project located alongState Road (SR) 976/SW 40 Street/Bird Road from east of SR 826/Palmetto Expressway to SW 58 Avenue, in Miami-Dade County.
WORK TO BE PERFORMED:
- Constructing new median openings at SW 65 Avenue, SW 62 Court, SW 60 Court and SW 59 Avenue
- Extending turn lanes at SW 72 Avenue, SW 67 Avenue and SW 62 Avenue
- Closing median opening at SW 61 Avenue
- Reconstructing existing driveways
- Adjusting utility manholes and drainage inlets
- Upgrading sidewalks, curb ramps and pedestrian push button detectors to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines
- Upgrading all pavement markings and signage
- Installing “No Pedestrian Crossing” and “Use Crosswalk” signs
- Repaving and restriping the road
MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC
During construction, temporary lane closures during non-peak hours may affect traffic. Pedestrian detours will be established with clear signage. Flaggers will be used to control traffic flow. Access to adjacent businesses and neighborhoods will be maintained.
