Project Summary

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is developing the design for a roadway project along State Road (SR) 25/US 27/Okeechobee Road from west of W 8 Avenue to west of SE 7 Avenue, in Miami Dade County.

 

COMMUNITIES

• Installing a new crosswalk at the East Drive intersection
• Installing pedestrian railings

 

 

SAFETY

• Restricting the right turn from northbound SR 25/US 27/Okeechobee Road onto SE 6 Street by adding a pedestrian island
• Restricting the left turn onto southbound SR 25/US 27/Okeechobee Road at W 1 street by implementing a right turn only lane.
• Replacing traffic lights at SE 1 Avenue
• Removing abandoned driveways
• Upgrading signals, lighting, curb ramps and crosswalks

 

 

RESILIENCY

 

• Repaving and restriping the road

 

SUPPLY CHAIN

• FDOT invests in roadways and transportation facilities to facilitate the movement of goods that serves our community and beyond

 

 

TECHNOLOGY

• FDOT is dedicated to use new and emerging technologies to enhance safety and helps prevent incidents

 

         WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

• This project creates opportunities for contractors, which results in economic benefits for workers and the community

 

MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC

During construction, temporary lane closures during non-peak hours may affect traffic. Pedestrian detours will be established with clear signage. Access to adjacent businesses and residences will be maintained.Work will be done in stages to minimize impacts and ensure traffic flows safely through the work zone.

SECTION 4(f):

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) proposes to resurface SR 25/US 27/Okeechobee Road to preserve and extend the service life and enhance the safety of the roadway, install additional signalization, upgrade pedestrian facilities, upgrade pavement markings and sub-standard signs, signalization, and lighting. This work includes three (3) permanent easements, two of which are located at the southwest and southeast corners of the park located at 530 Okeechobee Road and the southeast corner of Triangle Park. The FDOT and City of Hialeah Parks and Recreation department have coordinated these improvements.
