NW 25 Street Viaduct - West Segment

The project involves two major parts: the roadway reconstruction and widening of NW 25 Street from the Palmetto Expressway [State Road (SR) 826] to NW 89 Court and the construction of a viaduct. The viaduct, elevated about 30 feet, is situated mainly along the north side of NW 25 Street and will connect with the existing east viaduct. It will then go over the expressway and touch down just east of NW 82 Avenue.

SR 9A/I-95 at NW 62 St NB and SB ramps

This project consists of repaving and restriping the roadway and installing vehicle sensors into the pavement for the ramp signals.

SR A1A/Collins Ave from north of Lincoln Rd to 26 St

Construction includes replacing sections of sidewalk, curb and gutter, and pedestrian ramps; installing several underground drainage structures; updating signalization; installing countdown pedestrian signals at intersections; repaving and restriping the roadway; and updating the signage and pavement markings.

To do this work safely, it will be necessary to close travel lanes at times. When needed, lane closures will be from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tasks will be done in stages to lessen the effects of construction. Entrances to properties will be kept open. Access to bus stops will always be maintained.

SR 922/NE 123 St at N Bayshore Dr

Construction includes installing several underground drainage structures; installing new pedestrian signals at the four corners o the intersection; replacing sections of sidewalk, curb and gutter, and pedestrian ramps; replacing a section of guardrail; trimming the existing tree canopy; repaving and restriping the intersection; and updating the signage and pavement markings.

To do this work safely, it will be necessary to close travel lanes at times. When needed, lane closures will be from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tasks will be done in stages to lessen the effects of the construction. Entrances to properties will be kept open. Access to bus stops will always be maintained.

SR 915/NE 6 Ave from NE 145 St to Miami Gardens Dr

This project consists of repaving and restriping the roadway, minor drainage installation, replacing sections of the sidewalk and pedestrian ramps, driveway closures of unused driveways, replacing sections of the curb & gutter, installation of a new median, signalization and the replacement of some light poles.

Port of Miami Tunnel

The Port of Miami Tunnel Project consists of three components:

Tunnel connection between Watson Island and Port of Miami (Dodge Island)
Connections to the Port of Miami roadway system
Widening of MacArthur Causeway bridge

All three will be designed and built by the project concessionaire.

Tunnels connecting Watson Island and Port of Miami Specifics:

Tunnel length 4,200 feet for the tunnel tubes in each direction.
Tunnel structure Two tunnels, each containing two traffic lanes, curbs, walkways, ventilation fans and additional safety features. They will connect Watson Island and the Port of Miami beneath Government Cut, the main shipping channel in Biscayne Bay, moving traffic eastbound (to) and westbound (from) the Port.
Tunnel diameter 41 feet each.
Depth of tunnel The bottom of the tunnels will be approximately 100 feet below the surface of Government Cut at their deepest point.

Miami Intermodal Center

The Miami Intermodal Center (MIC) is a massive transportation hub being developed across from Miami International Airport (MIA) by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). It will provide connectivity between all forms of ground transportation available in the county, while decongesting the streets in and around the busy airport.

The MIC Program includes the Rental Car Center (RCC), Miami Central Station (MCS), MIA Mover and major roadway improvements, all to be completed by 2013. FDOT is also pursuing private and/or public sector joint development projects to enhance the MIC's economic viability. Miami-Dade County is developing the AirportLink bringing Metrorail service to MIA via the Miami Central Station by 2012.

The MIC will become the county's main transportation hub and will provide safe, efficient and seamless intermodal connectivity between MIA, Miami-Dade County's number one economic generator, and South Florida's businesses and area-wide activities centers, as well as serve as a transfer point for resident commuters.

SR 25/Okeechobee Rd from NW 118 Ave to Miami-Dade Co line

Construction includes replacing the traffic signal at NW 118 Avenue; installing several underground drainage structures at NW 118 Avenue; rebuilding sections of roadway, including constructing areas of paved shoulder; repaving and restriping the roadway, including the southbound exit ramp of Florida's Turnpike; and updating signage.

To do this work safely, it will be necessary to close travel lanes at times. When needed, lane closures may be from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Sundays through Thursdays and from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. A nighttime detour will be used when repaving the Turnpike exit ramp. Signs will be used as needed to help direct traffic. Tasks will be done in stages to lessen the effects of construction. Entrances to properties will be kept open.

SR 924/NW 119 St at NW 27 Ave, NW 22 Ave, and NW 10 Ave

This project consists of repaving and restriping the roadway, curb & gutter reconstruction, median reconstruction, relocation of trees and signalization.

SR 112/41 St/Arthur Godfrey Rd from Alton Rd to Collins Ave

This project includes replacing sections of sidewalk, curb and gutter, and pedestrian ramps; rebuilding small sections of roadway; installing an electronic speed feedback sign on eastbound 41 Street and Garden Avenue; updating signalization; repairing the concrete and steel on the bridges; providing a wider outside lane to accommodate bicycles; repaving and restriping the roadway; placing decorative pavement at crosswalks; and updating the signage and pavement markings.

To do this work safely, it will be necessary to close travel lanes at times. When needed, lane closures will be Sunday through Thursdays from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. No work may be performed during the Sabbath. Tasks will be done in stages to lessen the effects of construction. Entrances to properties will be kept open. Access to bus stops will always be maintained.

SR 9/NW 27 Ave from NW 79 St to 83 St

2012-09-04

This project consists of constructing traffic separators to prevent the left-turn movement onto southbound NW 27 Avenue at NW 80 Street, NW 82 Street, and NW 83 Street; and repaving and restriping the roadway; installing new signage.

Traffic lanes and sidewalks may be closed at times for safety reasons. Work will be done in phases to reduce effects. Driveways, entrances, and bus stops will not be effected. One southbound and one northbound inside lane will be closed to establish a safe work zone for construction of the medians. Additional lane closures will take place at night from 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., Friday nights and from 11:00 p.m. to 10:30 a.m., Saturday nights.

SR A1A/Collins Ave from 5 St to Lincoln Rd

This project includes improving the drainage system throughout the corridor; rebuilding sidewalk and pedestrian ramps; constructing sidewalk extensions, which will remove about 70 parking spaces; installing a new traffic signal on Collins Avenue at 12 Street; providing new left turn lanes at intersections from 5 Street to 15 Street and lengthening the southbound left turn lane at 5 Street; installing audible pedestrian signals at Collins Avenue at 7 Street and 10 Street; installing new electronic signs at 16 Street and Lincoln Road advising motorists to stop when cars are turning left; installing new street lighting; installing new landscaping within sidewalk extensions; installing new signage and pavement markings, including shared lane markings advising motorists of cyclists; and repaving and restriping the roadway between 5 Street and 16 Street.

To do this work safely, it will be necessary to close travel lanes and conduct detours at times. Pedestrian access will be maintained through protected sidewalk paths around the construction. Lane closures, detours and project information will be posted weekly on the Departmentâs website.

SR 823/W 4 Ave/NW 57 Ave from W 46 St to W 54 St

Construction includes widening the roadway to add a new travel lane in order to provide three northbound and three southbound travel lanes, widening the bridge on West 4 Avenue and West 53 Street, installing new drainage structures to improve the system throughout the corridor, updating lighting and signalization, including replacing several existing traffic signals and light poles, and installing pedestrian signals at intersections, constructing a center median, constructing sidewalk along the east side of the corridor and replacing sections of curb and gutter, installing barrier wall along the west side of the corridor, leveling several driveways to match the roadway, rebuilding and restriping the roadway, updating signage and landscaping enhancements.

To do this work safely, it will be necessary to perform traffic shifts and close travel lanes at times. When needed, daytime lane closures will be from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Permanent work zones, which will reduce the number of travel lanes, will be established in stages to lessen the effects of construction. Entrances to properties will be kept open. Detours will be used while the contractor performs work at intersections and side streets.

SR 826/NE 167 St/NE 163 St from N Miami Ave to W Dixie Hwy

This project consists of replacing pedestrian ramps and sections of sidewalk; repaving and restriping the roadway; reconstruction of NW 131 Street (west of NW 27 Ave in both directions); replacing concrete traffic railings wall, guardrail, and sidewalk at both sides of the NW 127th Street Canal ; relocation of trees and irrigation installation; modifying the median by widening the roadway to increase the capacity for left turn vehicles at different locations along the project limits ; installing new traffic signs and pedestrian signals.

SR 907/Alton Rd from 5 St to Michigan Ave

This project includes Installing three pump stations (at 5 Street, 10 Street and 14 Street) and a new drainage system to improve storm water drainage in area; rebuilding roadway, driveways, sidewalk and pedestrian ramps; constructing sidewalk extensions, which will remove about 90 on-street parking spaces; constructing concrete islands in the median to manage left turn movements at 9 Street, 13 Street, 14 Street, 14 Court and 15 Terrace and along Alton Road from 16 Street to Lincoln Road; modifying the median opening at Alton Road and 6 Street to prevent motorists travelling east on 6 Street to turn north on Alton Road; upgrading the traffic barrier on Alton Road flyover and Dade Boulevard Canal; replacing traffic and pedestrian signals at intersections; installing new street lighting; installing new landscaping and irrigation; and installing new signage and pavement markings.

To do this work safely, it will be necessary to close travel lanes and conduct detours at times. Permanent work zones, which will shift the existing travel lanes, will be established to lessen the effects of construction. Throughout the project, portions of Alton Road will be converted into a northbound-only roadway, providing two northbound travel lanes and areas of on-street parking, when possible. Southbound traffic will be encouraged to use West Avenue. Pedestrian access will be maintained through protected sidewalk paths around the construction. Lane closure, detours and project information will be posted weekly on the Department’s website.
