SR 826/Palmetto Expwy from north of SW 40 St to south of SW 56 St

As part of the overall improvement program for State Road (SR) 826/Palmetto Expressway, The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District 6, is widening the Palmetto Expressway from just north of SW 40th Street / Bird Road to south of SW 56th Street / Miller Drive. This is one of several widening projects slated for the Palmetto Expressway designed to improve safety and traffic flow through the area. This project includes the following:

Adding one new travel lane in each direction on the Palmetto Expressway;
Adding one new eastbound lane on Bird Road from Tropical Park to just east of the Palmetto Expressway;
Rebuilding entrance and exit ramps to and from the Palmetto Expressway at Bird Rd., Miller Dr., and SR 874;
Rebuilding bridges over Miller Dr., Bird Rd., and SR 874;
Building new pedestrian bridge over the Palmetto Expressway just north of Bird Rd.;
Installing new 8” water mains at various locations in coordination with Miami-Dade Water and Sewer
Building a new storm water drainage system throughout the project area;
Installing Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) equipment throughout the project;
Installing new street signs, new street lights and traffic signals; and
Installing new landscaping along the project limits.

SR 826/Palmetto Expwy from NW 22 Ave to NW 8 Ave

Construction includes planting a mix of large and small plants along the Palmetto Expressway at the following locations:

Along the north and south sides of the Palmetto Expressway between NW 22 Avenue and NW 19 Avenue and from NW 18 Avenue to NW 17 Avenue
Along the north side of the Palmetto Expressway between NW 16 Avenue to just before NW 15 Avenue, from NW 15 Avenue to the bridge at NW 13 Avenue/NW 12 Avenue, after the bridge at NW 13 Avenue/NW 12 Avenue to NW 10 Court, and from NW 9 Court to NW 8 Avenue

SR 9/I-95 from SW 8 St to NW 8 St

The intent of this project is to enhance the area by: restoring various bridge components; rehabilitating the bridge’s joints; cleaning the bridge’s drainage system; and painting the bridge.

I-95 from NW 32 St to NW 47 Terr

UPDATE: Start date is March 19, 2012

This landscaping project will consist of removing all invasive plants at the interchange of SR 9A/I-95 and SR 112. We will be installing a mix of large and small plants throughout the interchange.

SR A1A/Harding Ave from Indian Creek Dr to south of 75 St

This project includes replacing sections of sidewalk; curb and gutter, and pedestrian ramps; partially rebuilding a small section of roadway; leveling several driveways to match the roadway; installing trench drains and several underground drainage structures; updating signalization; adding a bicycle lane; repaving and restriping the roadway; placing decorative pavement at crosswalks; updating signage and pavement markings; and eliminating nine parking spaces between 75 Street and 69 Street.

SR 112/I-195 from NW 10 Ave to Biscayne Bay

Construction includes replacing the curb and guardrail in the median with a concrete barrier wall; widening the bridges, upgrading the bridge railings and adding barrier wall along the roadway; widening the roadway at several locations; building a retaining wall system; adding eastbound and westbound auxiliary lanes from I-95 to North Miami Avenue; rebuilding the North Miami Avenue exit ramp; replacing sections of the communications system (ITS); installing new signs and traffic signals; relocating and adding landscaping; and improving the riding surface of the road.

SR 826/836 Interchange Reconstruction

Capacity improvements include the reconstruction and widening along both SR 826 and SR 836, the construction of a four-level interchange as well as the reconstruction/modifications of the Flagler Street/ SR 826 and the Milam Dairy Road/NW 72 Avenue/SR 836 interchanges.

95 Express

2010-11-01

The Design/Build project included building two High Occupancy Toll (HOT) lanes on I-95 in place of the existing High Occupancy Vehicle Lanes (HOV). Open Road Tolling (ORT) and various Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) components were included in this project. 95 Express will be extended to I-595 in Broward County, which began on November 28, 2011.

SR 826/Palmetto Expwy from NW 81 St to NW 99 St

This project consists of the installing landscaping between NW 81 Street to NW 99 Street, including the Okeechobee Road Interchange.

SR 826/Palmetto Expwy from SW 32 St to SW 16 St

Construction includes planting a mix of large and small plants along the Palmetto Expressway at the following locations:

Along the northbound and southbound entrance and exit ramps of the Palmetto Expressway interchange at Coral Way
Along the west side of the Palmetto Expressway behind the existing noise wall between SW 32 Street and SW 28 Street, at SW 19 Street and between SW 17 Terrace and SW 17 Street
At the center median on Coral Way, just east of the Palmetto Expressway

SR 826/Palmetto Expwy from I-75 to NW 103 St

On Monday, January 9, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will start a roadway project at NW 87 Avenue (W 28 Avenue) on State Road (SR) 93/I-75 to NW 103 Street along southbound SR 826/Palmetto Expressway. This project will last about 420 days and cost an estimated $6.7 million.

This Project Includes:

Adding an extra lane on the eastbound SR 93/I-75 exit ramp
Adding an extra lane on southbound SR 826 between the exit ramp on SR 93/I-75 and NW 103 Street
Repaving the exit ramps
Installing new signage
Upgrading drainage system and lighting
Minor landscaping changes

SR 826/Palmetto Expwy from NW 67 Ave to NW 47 Ave

This project includes adding an extra lane on westbound SR 826 between the exit ramps on NW 67 Avenue and NW 47 Avenue; adding a second lane at the westbound off-ramps at NW 67 Avenue and NW 57 Avenue; repaving the exit ramps and frontage roads; installing a new electronic message sign board; upgrading drainage system and upgrading lighting and signage.

I-95/Ives Dairy Rd Interchange

This project includes widening the median areas on Ives Dairy Road and the entrance and exit ramps to/from I-95 to ease traffic flow through this area.

SR 826/Palmetto Expwy from NW 62 St to NW 81 St

Construction includes planting a mix of large and small plants along the Palmetto Expressway at the following locations:

Along the northbound and southbound entrance and exit ramps of the Palmetto Expressway interchange at NW 74 Street
Along the east and west sides of the Palmetto Expressway between NW 66 Street to NW 71 Street, and from north of the Metrorail to NW 81 Street
At the center median on NW 74 Street, just east of the Palmetto Expressway

95 Express Phase 2

This project will extend the existing express lanes north from Miami Gardens Drive to Broward Boulevard in Broward County by converting the existing High Occupancy Vehicle Lanes to two express lanes in each direction. Other work includes installing Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) components; modifying the Ives Dairy Road Interchange, bridge widening at specific locations and installing noise walls at specific locations between Hollywood Boulevard and Taft Street.
