SR 826/Palmetto Expwy from north of SW 40 St to south of SW 56 St

As part of the overall improvement program for State Road (SR) 826/Palmetto Expressway, The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District 6, is widening the Palmetto Expressway from just north of SW 40th Street / Bird Road to south of SW 56th Street / Miller Drive. This is one of several widening projects slated for the Palmetto Expressway designed to improve safety and traffic flow through the area. This project includes the following:

Adding one new travel lane in each direction on the Palmetto Expressway;
Adding one new eastbound lane on Bird Road from Tropical Park to just east of the Palmetto Expressway;
Rebuilding entrance and exit ramps to and from the Palmetto Expressway at Bird Rd., Miller Dr., and SR 874;
Rebuilding bridges over Miller Dr., Bird Rd., and SR 874;
Building new pedestrian bridge over the Palmetto Expressway just north of Bird Rd.;
Installing new 8” water mains at various locations in coordination with Miami-Dade Water and Sewer
Building a new storm water drainage system throughout the project area;
Installing Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) equipment throughout the project;
Installing new street signs, new street lights and traffic signals; and
Installing new landscaping along the project limits.

SR 9A/I-95 exit ramp to Florida's Turnpike

Construction includes repairing the concrete and steel on the bridge and painting the bridge.

SR 9A/I-95 from NW 32 St to NW 47 Terr

This landscaping project will consist of removing all invasive plants at the interchange of SR 9A/I-95 and SR 112. We will be installing a mix of large and small plants throughout the interchange.

SR 112 WB off-ramp to NW 12 Ave

This project consists of repaving and restriping the project roadway.

SR A1A/Harding Ave from Indian Creek Dr to south of 75 St

This project includes replacing sections of sidewalk; curb and gutter, and pedestrian ramps; partially rebuilding a small section of roadway; leveling several driveways to match the roadway; installing trench drains and several underground drainage structures; updating signalization; adding a bicycle lane; repaving and restriping the roadway; placing decorative pavement at crosswalks; updating signage and pavement markings; and eliminating nine parking spaces between 75 Street and 69 Street.

SR 836/I-395 from NE 1 Ave to Biscayne Bay

Construction includes widening the roadway and bridges in order to provide three eastbound and three westbound travel lanes; installing barrier wall along the median and outside of the roadway; building a retaining wall system; installing several drainage structures to improve storm water runoff; installing new lighting along the roadway; replacing an overhead sign structure along westbound I-395 near Biscayne Bay; repaving and restriping the westbound I-395 exit ramp to North Bayshore Drive and the eastbound I-395 entrance ramp to the MacArthur Causeway; improving the riding surface of the roadway; updating signage and pavement markings; and relocating and removing several trees.

To do this work safely, it will be necessary to close travel lanes and conduct detours at times. Nighttime lane closures will be:

12 a.m. Monday through 5:30 a.m. Monday
9 p.m. Monday through 5:30 a.m. Tuesday
9 p.m. Tuesday through 5:30 a.m. Wednesday
9 p.m. Wednesday through 5:30 a.m. Thursday
9 p.m. Thursday through 5:30 a.m. Friday

Lane closures may also be performed when needed on:

1 a.m. Saturday through 9 a.m. Saturday
1 a.m. Sunday through 10 a.m. Sunday

Permanent work zones, which will shift the existing travel lanes, will be established to lessen the effects of construction. Nighttime detours will be used while the contractor performs certain work along I-395, Biscayne Boulevard and North Bayshore Drive. Nighttime detours will also be used while performing work at the entrance and exit ramps of Biscayne Boulevard and North Bayshore Drive.

SR 826/836 Interchange Reconstruction

Capacity improvements include the reconstruction and widening along both SR 826 and SR 836, the construction of a four-level interchange as well as the reconstruction/modifications of the Flagler Street/ SR 826 and the Milam Dairy Road/NW 72 Avenue/SR 836 interchanges.

95 Express

The Design/Build project included building two High Occupancy Toll (HOT) lanes on I-95 in place of the existing High Occupancy Vehicle Lanes (HOV). Open Road Tolling (ORT) and various Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) components were included in this project. 95 Express will be extended to I-595 in Broward County, which began on November 28, 2011.

SR 826/Palmetto Express Lanes

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six (Miami-Dade County) and FDOT District Four (Broward County) are working together to implement express lanes along 28 miles of the SR 826/Palmetto Expressway and I-75 corridors from just south of SR 836/Dolphin Expressway in Miami-Dade County to I-595 in Broward County.

In a collaborative effort, both Districts will jointly manage the procurement, design, and construction of the following six project segments:

• FDOT District Six is implementing the I-75/Palmetto Express Lanes Project (Palmetto Express) in Miami-Dade County which extends approximately 10 miles along the Palmetto Expressway from West Flagler Street to NW 154 Street, and approximately three (3) miles along I-75 from the Palmetto Expressway to NW 170 Street. SR 826/Palmetto Expwy from I-75 to NW 103 St

On Monday, January 9, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will start a roadway project at NW 87 Avenue (W 28 Avenue) on State Road (SR) 93/I-75 to NW 103 Street along southbound SR 826/Palmetto Expressway. This project will last about 420 days and cost an estimated $6.7 million.

This Project Includes:

Adding an extra lane on the eastbound SR 93/I-75 exit ramp
Adding an extra lane on southbound SR 826 between the exit ramp on SR 93/I-75 and NW 103 Street
Repaving the exit ramps
Installing new signage
Upgrading drainage system and lighting
Minor landscaping changes

SR 826/Palmetto Expwy from NW 67 Ave to NW 47 Ave

This project includes adding an extra lane on westbound SR 826 between the exit ramps on NW 67 Avenue and NW 47 Avenue; adding a second lane at the westbound off-ramps at NW 67 Avenue and NW 57 Avenue; repaving the exit ramps and frontage roads; installing a new electronic message sign board; upgrading drainage system and upgrading lighting and signage.

SR 9/I-95/Ives Dairy Rd Interchange

This project included widening the medians on Ives Dairy Road and the entrance and exit ramps to/from I-95 to ease traffic flow through this area. All major work is completed. Remaining minor items will be done by the end of May 2013.

95 Express Phase 2

This project will extend the existing express lanes north from Miami Gardens Drive in Miami-Dade County to Broward Boulevard in Broward County by converting the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes to two express lanes in each direction. Other work includes: installing Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) components; bridge widening at specific locations and installing noise walls at specific locations between Hollywood Boulevard and Taft Street.

SR 826, SR 7, SR 9 and SR 9A ramps within the Golden Glades Interchange

Construction include widening several ramps throughout the Golden Glades Interchange to include a paved shoulder, installing several underground drainage structures, replacing sections of guardrail, replacing a section of communications system along SR 826, repaving and restriping several ramps throughout Golden Glades Interchange, and updating signage and pavement markings.

SR 856/William Lehman Cswy from W Country Club Dr to Collins Ave

This project consists of adding bicycle lanes along the William Lehman Causeway; repaving and restriping the roadway.

Traffic lanes may be closed at times for safety reasons. Lane closures will occur from:
9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Weekdays and weekends
9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights
11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights

SR 112/Julia Tuttle Cswy from Biscayne Blvd to Alton Rd

This project consists of adding bicycle lanes along the eastbound and westbound shoulders of the SR 112/Julia Tuttle Causeway; restriping the shoulders as a bicycle path; and installing new signage.

SR/860 Miami Gardens Drive from I-75 to NW 87 Ave

This project consists of repaving and restriping the ramps on I-75.
