The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a public information meeting about a construction project on SR A1A/Collins Avenue from 5 Street to Lincoln Road. The public information meeting will beat 6 p.m. on Wednesday May 15, at the Miami Beach Police Department, 1100 Washington Avenue.

Governor Rick Scott has declared May 5 - 11 as Train Safety Awareness Week (TSAW).  Florida Operation Lifesaver and the Coalition of Community Traffic Safety Teams have joined forces to raise the public’s awareness about the dangers of disregarding highway-rail crossings laws.

The eastbound Dolphin Expressway [State Road (SR) 836] exit ramp that connects drivers to the southbound Palmetto Expressway (SR 826) will be closed Monday, May 6 (Tuesday, May 7 is the alternate date) between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The ramps to NW 72 Avenue from northbound SR 826 and eastbound SR 836 will be closed on Thursday, May 2 between 11 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) recognizes May 2013 as Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. Motorcycles can be easily hidden in traffic, so it critical for motorists to watch for motorcycles to ensure everyone’s safety. 

The northbound SR 826 ramp to eastbound SR 836 and NW 72 Avenue will be closed Wednesday, May 1 and Thursday, May 2 (Friday, May 3 is an alternate date) between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. The ramps from SW 8 Street to northbound SR 826 will also be closed during this time period.

The ramps from SR 93/I-75 and SR 924/Gratigny Expressway to southbound SR 826/Palmetto Expressway will be closed Tuesday, April 30 through Thursday, May 2 between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

All travel lanes on NW 12 Street between Milam Dairy Road and NW 78 Avenue will be closed on Tuesday, April 30 and Wednesday, May 1 (Thursday, May 2 is an alternate date) between the hours of 10 p.m.and 5:30 a.m.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to close the northbound lane of SR 997/Krome Avenue from US-1 to SW 344 Street from Wednesday,May 1, 2013 to Thursday,May 30, 2013. This work is part of the SR 997/Krome Avenue from SR 5/US-1 to SW 297 Street roadway construction project, underway in the cities of Homestead and Florida City. The project begins April 29, 2013, will last roughly eight months and cost an estimated $4.45 million.

The northbound SR 826 ramp to eastbound SR 836 and NW 72 Avenue will be closed Monday, April 29 and Tuesday, April 30 (Wednesday, May 1 is an alternate date) between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. The ramps from SW 8 Street to northbound SR 826 will also be closed during this time period.

The ramps from SR 93/I-75 and SR 924/Gratigny Expressway to southbound SR 826/Palmetto Expressway will be closed Monday, April 22 and Tuesday, April 23 (Wednesday, April 24, alternate) between 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to close the NW 12 Avenue exit ramp going westbound on SR 112 on Friday, April 19, beginning at 8 a.m. and reopening by 5 p.m. This closure is part of the resurfacing project for the NW 12 Avenue westbound off-ramp on SR 112, underway in the City of Miami. The project began in April 2013,will last roughly three months and cost an estimated $136,000.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six will hold a public information meeting for a roadway project along SR 5/US 1/Overseas Highway in the Upper and Lower Matecumbe Keys, from Mile Marker (MM) 77.47 to MM 81.44. The meeting will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the Islamorada Public Library, 81830 Overseas Highway, Islamorada, FL 33036 andwill follow an informal format that allows the public to arrive at any time from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Graphic displays of the project will be shown and FDOT staff will be on hand to update the public on the status of the projects’ design and answer questions.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) recognizes April 15 - 19, 2013, as Work Zone Safety Awareness Week. Serious injury and death can occur in areas of roadway construction. In order to raise awareness and educate citizens on the dangers of work zones, FDOT has collaborated with partners to drive down fatalities. On Florida roads in 2011, there were 65 fatalities and 3,553 serious injuries in work zones. Some simple tips for improving safety include: be alert, slow down, avoid distraction, don’t tailgate, don’t change lanes, and expect the unexpected.

The eastbound SR 836 flyover bridge to northbound SR 826 will be closed on Monday, April 15 between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

On Monday morning, April 15, all northbound traffic on SR 826 going to eastbound SR 836, to West Flagler Street and NW 72 Avenue will be shifted to a new on ramp located about one mile earlier than the previous ramp. All drivers from West Flagler Street and SW 8 Street going north on SR 826 will also be shifted to the new on ramp where they can continue north on SR 826.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six, will be hosting an Alternatives Public Workshop for the Okeechobee Road Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study. The workshop will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Westland Gardens Park, located at 13501 NW 107 Avenue, Hialeah Gardens, FL 33018.

Beginning at 5:00 a.m., Saturday, April 6 until 11:59 p.m., Sunday, April 7, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and CSX Transportation (CSXT) will close the railroad crossing on SR 90/SW 8 Street between SW 71 Avenue and SW 70 Avenue, weather permitting. During this time, all traffic will be detoured away from SW 8 Street and directed to follow signs to alternate local streets.

On Thursday morning, April 4, a new temporary eastbound SR 836 ramp to NW 72 Avenue will open and the existing ramp will be closed permanently. Eastbound SR 836 drivers going to NW 72 Avenue will need to exit about 800 feet earlier to access the new temporary ramp.

On Monday, April 15, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to begin a roadway construction project along SR 5/US 1/Overseas Highway from MM 59.9 to MM 68.25. The project will cost an estimated $5.3 million. The work is scheduled to be completed in about eight months.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has scheduled a continuous closure of the connector ramp from westbound SR 826/NW 167 Street to northbound SR 7/US 441, from 9 p.m., Wednesday, April 3 to 5:30 a.m., Monday, April 8, to reconstruct the ramp.

The westbound and eastbound SW 8 Street entrance ramps to northbound SR 826 will be closed on Wednesday, March 27 (Thursday, March 28 alternate) between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Drivers should be on the lookout for single lane closures along State Road (SR) 997/SW 177 Avenue/Krome Avenue this week. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and contractor, Lynn Services, Inc., are conducting repair tests on Krome Avenue between about SW 245 Street and about SW 220 Street. Workers are carrying out a flagging operation (one lane of traffic alternating for both directions) between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 25, 2013 through Friday, March 29, 2013.

All travel lanes on eastbound NW 12 Street and one westbound lane between NW 82 Avenue and Milam Dairy Road will be closed Wednesday, March 20 between 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six will hold a public meeting about a project along SR 934/NW 79 Street. The project limits extend from east of NW 28 Avenue to NW 14 Avenue, in Miami Dade County. The public meeting will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Arcola Lakes Public Library, 8240 NW 7 Avenue, Miami FL 33150.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold two identical public information meetings about a construction project on SR 907/Alton Road from 5 Street to Michigan Avenue. The Middle Beach neighborhood public information meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, at the Miami Beach Golf Course, 2301 Alton Road.  The South Beach neighborhood public information meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 21 at the Police Athletic League, 999 11 Street. These meetings will give attendees an opportunity to speak directly with staff about this upcoming roadway project.

All eastbound travel lanes on West Flagler Street between SW 81 Avenue and SW 80 Avenue will be closed Tuesday, March 12 between 11 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

All westbound travel lanes on SW 8 Street between SW 73 Avenue and Tamiami Boulevard will be closed Thursday, March 14 between 11 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

The Northeast Community Traffic Safety Team (NE CTST), comprising various local law enforcement agencies, through the assistance of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), will conduct a multi-agency enforcement wave as part of the national CLICK IT OR TICKET safety belt use awareness campaign and the Move Over Law in Northeast Miami-Dade County, 8 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, March 12.

The southbound SR 826 ramp to westbound and eastbound SR 836 will be closed on Monday, March 11 and Tuesday, March 12 (Wednesday, March 13 will be the alternate date) between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.:

All westbound travel lanes on SW 8 Street between SW 73 Avenue and Tamiami Boulevard will be closed Monday, March 11 between 11 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

The NW 25 Street on ramp to northbound SR 826 will be closed from 8 p.m. Thursday, March 7 through 5:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 12.

The northbound SR 826 exit ramp to NW 25 Street will be closed from 8 p.m., Thursday, February 28 through 5:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 5.

The westbound SR 836 ramp to northbound SR 826 will be closed Monday, February 18 between midnight and 5 a.m.

The NW 25 Street entrance ramp to southbound SR 826 will be closed from 8 p.m. Thursday, February 21 through 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 27.
 

Pedestrian safety will be emphasized during the upcoming Speedweek in Daytona Beach. The Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) Alert Today Alive Tomorrow campaign is designed to raise public awareness of pedestrian safety in the Sunshine State.

Miami — Closures along SR 826 and SR 836 are scheduled as noted in the press release.

All eastbound traffic on SR 836/Dolphin Expressway will be detoured to southbound SR 826 on Monday, February 18, Wednesday, February 20 and Thursday, February 21 between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., and also on Friday, February 22 and Saturday, February 23 between midnight and 5:30 a.m. The SR 826 southbound ramp to eastbound SR 836 will also be closed during this time frame.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six will hold a public meeting about a repaving project along State Road (SR) 5/Biscayne Boulevard from NE 121 Street to NE 151 Street in Miami-Dade County.

All travel lanes on westbound NW 12 Street between Milam Dairy Road and NW 82 Avenue will be closed from Wednesday, February 13 and Thursday, February 14 (Friday, February 15 alternate date) between 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

The southbound SR 826 ramp to NW 25 Street will be closed from 8 p.m., Thursday, February 14 through 5:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 19.

The westbound SR 836 ramp to northbound SR 826 will be closed on Tuesday, January 29 through Saturday, February 2. Closures on Tuesday through Thursday will be from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. The closures on Friday and Saturday will be from midnight to 5:30 a.m.

Early this morning, the locking mechanism of the southbound span of the Brickell Avenue Bridge in Miami was damaged during a test operation. Southbound traffic on the Brickell Avenue Bridge is currently being re-routed to eastbound SE 4 Street. Drivers should proceed north on SE 3 Avenue, west on SE/SW 2 Street, south on SW 2 Avenue, east on SW 8 Street to Brickell Avenue.

All travel lanes on NW 72 Avenue between NW 8 Street and NW 11 Street will be closed on Tuesday, January 22 (Wednesday, January 23 alternate) between 11 p.m.and 5:30 a.m.

On Friday morning, January 18, the new eastbound SR 836 to northbound SR 826 bridge will be opened to traffic. Drivers on eastbound SR 836 heading north to SR 826 will need to exit onto the new ramp about one mile earlier immediately after NW 87 Avenue to access the new flyover bridge. The existing loop ramp will be closed.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six will hold a public meeting about four roadway projects along SR 968/W Flagler Street and SW 1 Street. The project limits extend from NW/SW 27 Avenue to W 2 Avenue on W Flagler Street, and from SW 24 Avenue to SW 6 Avenue on SW 1 Street. The public meeting will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2013,at the Manuel Artime Theater, 900 SW 1 Street, Miami, FL 33130.

All westbound traffic on SR 836 will be detoured to the SR 826 northbound ramp on Monday, January 14 and Wednesday, January 16 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

All southbound lanes on SR 826 will be closed on Tuesday, January 15 and Thursday, January 17 from south of NW 25 Street to south of SR 836 between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. The westbound SR 836 ramp to southbound SR 826 will also be closed during this time period.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six will hold a public meeting about a roadway project along State Road (SR) 5/US 1/South Dixie Highway from south of SW 112 Avenue to north of SW 184 Street/Eureka Drive in Miami-Dade County.

All westbound traffic on SR 836 will be detoured to the SR 826 northbound ramp on Saturday, January 5 from midnight to 5:30 a.m., and on Tuesday, January 8 and Thursday, January 10 between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to begin a pedestrian safety enhancement construction project on Thursday, January 3 at the crosswalk at 1770 Brickell Avenue in the City of Miami.

The ramp from SR 924/Gratigny Expressway to southbound SR 826/Palmetto Expressway will be closed from Monday, December 17 through Wednesday, December 19 (Thursday, December 20 will be an alternate date) between 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

On Friday morning, December 14, northbound drivers on SR 826 wanting to go to NW 25 Street will need to exit about 800 feet earlier onto a new temporary ramp. To prepare for the opening of the temporary ramp, the northbound SR 826 exit ramp to NW 25 Street will be closed on Thursday, December 13 between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

All travel lanes on NW 72 Avenue between NW 8 Street and NW 11 Street will be closed on Monday, December 17 (Tuesday, December 18 alternate) between 10 p.m.and 5:30 a.m. The eastbound State Road (SR) 836 ramp to NW 72 will also be closed on Monday, December 17 between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The westbound SR 836 ramp to northbound SR 826 will be closed from Thursday, December 13 to Friday, December 21 between 11:30 p.m. and 2:30 a.m. The closures will not occur on Friday, December 14 and Sunday, December 16.

On Friday, December 14 (Saturday, December 15 alternate) the following closures will take place between midnight and 5 a.m. unless otherwise noted.

A survey conducted by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) revealed that today, more drivers are familiar with its traveler information and roadside assistance services than ever before. The study sampled 300 frequent drivers of the city’s major highways, including Interstate 95, Florida’s Turnpike and Dolphin Expressway among others. Drivers reported these tools are helping them avoid traffic congestion and are saving them time and stress on their commute.

The inside left turn lane at the bottom of the southbound SR 826 exit ramp to NW 25 Street will be closed on Friday, December 7 through Thursday, December 13 (excluding Sunday)between 10 a.m. and midnight. There will be one left and one right turn lane available to drivers.

Beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2012, until 6:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 11, 2012, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and Florida East Coast Railway (FEC) will close the railroad crossing located on SR 934/East 4 Avenue (between East 21 Street and East 22 Street) for these days, weather permitting. During this time, all traffic will be detoured away from East 4 Avenue and directed to follow signs to alternate local streets.

The southbound SR 826 to westbound SR 836 ramp will be closed to perform roadway repairs on Tuesday, December 4 between the hours of 10 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and the Safe Mobility for Life Coalition kicked off Older Driver Safety Awareness Week to raise awareness of the impacts of aging on driving and the available resources to help maintain mobility and independence. Understanding the impact that aging can have on safe driving skills and the importance of preparing a transportation retirement plan are some of the areas of focus. 

All westbound lanes on SR 836 will be closed from Saturday, December 1 through Saturday, December 8 (excluding Sunday) from the NW 72 Avenue/SR 826 ramp to just west of SR 826 between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. The westbound SR 836 double loop ramp to southbound SR 826 will also be closed during this time period.

The inside left-turn lane at the bottom of the southbound SR 826 exit ramp to NW 25 Street will be closed on Monday, December 3 through Friday, December 14 between 10 a.m. and midnight.  There will be one left- and one right-turn lane available to drivers.

On Thursday, November 29, westbound drivers on SR 836 wanting to go north on SR 826 will need to exit about 800 feet earlier onto a new temporary ramp.

The inside left-turn lane at the bottom of the southbound SR 826 ramp to NW 25 Street will be closed on Wednesday, November 21 between 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. There will be one left- and one right-turn lane available to drivers.

On Saturday morning, November 17 traffic on the southbound SR 826 to westbound SR 836 ramp will be shifted northward onto a new exit ramp. 

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six will hold a public information meeting about a roadway project along SR 997/Krome Avenue, in Miami-Dade County. The public information meeting will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the West Kendall Regional Library located at 10201 Hammocks Boulevard, Miami, FL 33196. The meeting will follow an informal format to allow the public the opportunity to view the project plans and graphic displays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and FDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project and answer questions.

More than $3 billion will be spent by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) over the next five years to improve transportation infrastructure in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. The five-year plan, known as the Tentative Work Program, will be highlighted at the annual FDOT District Six Work Program Public Hearings.

With the 2012 election season coming to an end, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is reminding citizens to use caution during the removal of political signs near state right-of-way.

MIAMI— Two mainline westbound travel lanes on SR 836/Dolphin Expressway will be closed from NW 72 Avenue to SR 826 starting on Friday, November 2 at 9:30 p.m. and ending on Saturday, November 3 at 3 p.m. One mainline westbound lane will remain open and drivers can also use the left-hand SR 826 ramp lane to continue to SR 836 west. The alternate schedule will be from Saturday, November 3 at 9:30 p.m. to Sunday, November 4 at 3p.m.

Two mainline westbound travel lanes on SR 836/Dolphin Expressway will be closed from NW 72 Avenue to SR 826 starting on Friday, November 2 at 10 p.m. and ending on Saturday, November 3 at noon. One mainline westbound lane will remain open and drivers can also use the left-hand SR 826 ramp lane to continue to SR 836 west. The alternate schedule will be from Saturday, November 3 at 10 p.m. to Sunday, November 4 at noon.

The ramps from SR 93/I-75 and SR 924/Gratigny Expressway to southbound SR 826/Palmetto Expressway will be closed on Friday, October 26 between the hours of 11 p.m. and 3 a.m.

All closures along SR 826 and SR 836 have been changed due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy. 

The ramps from SR 93/I-75 and SR 924/Gratigny Expressway to southbound SR 826/Palmetto Expressway will be closed on Tuesday, October 23 between the hours of 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.

The ramps from SR 93/I-75 and SR 924/Gratigny Expressway to southbound SR 826/Palmetto Expressway will be closed on Friday, October 19 and Monday, October 22 between the hours of 9 p.m. and 9 a.m. on Friday, and 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. on Monday.

The southbound SR 826 ramp to NW 25 Street will be closed from Friday, October 19 at 8 p.m. through Monday, October 22 at 5 a.m.

Drivers traveling northbound on State Road(SR) 826 between West Flagler Street and SR 836 should prepare for a traffic pacing operation on Tuesday, October 16 and Thursday, October 18 through Saturday, October 20. Florida Highway Patrol cruisers will slow traffic down to five miles per hour for approximately five minutes sometime between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. Ramps along this section of the Palmetto Expressway will also be temporarily closed during this pacing operation.One northbound lane between West Flagler Street and SR 836 will also be closed during this time frame.

The southbound SR 826 ramps to/from NW 25 Street will be closed from Friday, October 12 at 10 p.m. through Monday, October 15 at 5:30 a.m. 

The ramps from SR 93/I-75 and SR 924/Gratigny Expressway to southbound SR 826/Palmetto Expressway will be closed on Wednesday, October 10 and Thursday, October 11 between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. and Friday, October 12 between the hours of 9 p.m. and 9 a.m.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six will hold a public hearing about two roadway projects along SR 985/SW 107 Avenue. The project limits extend from the SW 1100 block to north of West Flagler Street. The public hearing will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday October 17, 2012 at the City of Sweetwater City Hall, Commission Chambers, Floor 3, 500 SW 109 Avenue, Sweetwater, FL 33174.

The closure of the SR 93/I-75 ramp to southbound SR 826/Palmetto Expressway scheduled for Monday, October 8 and Tuesday, October 9 between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. has been canceled.

The southbound SR 826 exit ramp to NW 25 Street will be closed Wednesday, October 10 and Thursday, October 11 between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
 

The ramp from SR 93/I-75 to southbound SR 826/Palmetto Expressway will be closed on Monday, October 8 and Tuesday, October 9 between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to begin a roadway construction project on Monday October 8. The project limits extend along State Road (SR) 94/Kendall Drive/SW 88 Street under Florida’s Turnpike in unincorporated Miami-Dade County.

The Florida Department of Transportation’s State Materials Office will be performing Ground Coupled Ground Penetrating Radar testing at two locations tonight in Miami, starting at 7:30 p.m. and ending no later than 5 a.m. The Ground Penetrating Radar unit is a non-destructive tool that uses radar or radio waves to locate objects beneath the surface of the Earth.

The ramps from SR 93/I-75 and SR 924/Gratigny Expressway to southbound SR 826/Palmetto Expressway will be closed on Thursday, October 4 between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m., and Friday, October 5 between the hours of 9 p.m. and 9 a.m.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a public information meeting about a construction project on SR 5/Brickell Avenue/US 1 from south of SE 8 Street to SE 5 Street at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, at First Presbyterian Church, 609 Brickell Avenue. This meeting will give attendees an opportunity to speak directly with staff about this upcoming roadway project.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to begin a roadway construction project on ramps within the Golden Glades Interchange on Monday, September 24. The project will include several ramps along State Road (SR) 826/Palmetto Expressway, SR 7/US 441, SR 9 and SR 9A/I-95.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to begin a roadway construction project on Monday September 17. The project limits extend along State Road (SR) 944/Quail Roost Drive from SW 113 Avenue to Florida’s Turnpike in unincorporated Miami-Dade County. The project will cost an estimated $612,000.
 

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to begin a maintenance resurfacing project on Monday September 17. The project limits extend along State Road (SR) 90/US 41/Tamiami Trail from the Collier County line to west of Loop Road in Miami-Dade County. The project will cost an estimated $1.3 million.
 

The eastbound SR 836 ramp to northbound SR 826 will be closed on Tuesday, September 18 through Friday, October 5 (excluding Saturday and Sunday) between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Closures will run from midnight to 5:30 a.m. on Fridays.

The closure of all northbound lanes on SR 826 will be extended to Friday, October 5. The closures will occur nightly (excluding Saturdays and Sundays) from north of West Flagler Street to SR 836 between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Closures will run from midnight to 5:30 a.m. on Fridays.

Beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 14 until 6:00 a.m., Tuesday, September  18, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and CSX Transportation will close the railroad crossing located on SR 986/Sunset Drive/SW 72 Street between SW 87 Avenue and SW 92 Avenue, weather permitting. During this time, all traffic will be detoured away from the Sunset Drive crossing and directed to follow signs to alternate local streets. This detour will allow workers to replace the tracks and crossing surface to improve ride quality.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six has launched its 2012 Put it Down - Distracted Driving Awareness Campaign.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to begin a landscaping installation project on Monday, September 17. The project limits extend along SR 5/US 1/Overseas Highway from MM 85.3 to MM 87.3. The project will cost an estimated $164,000. The work will last about three months.

All northbound lanes on SR 826 will be closed beginning Tuesday, September 11 and ending Friday, September 28 (excluding Saturdays and Sundays) from north of West Flagler Street to SR 836 between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. The West Flagler Street entrance ramp to northbound SR 826 will also be closed Tuesday, September 11 and Wednesday, September 12 between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

NW 8 Street will be closed at NW 73 Avenue/Frontage Road continuously from Tuesday morning, September 11 through Tuesday, September 18.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six has scheduled a public hearing regarding the proposed improvements to State Road (SR) 826/Palmetto Expressway from south of SR 836/Dolphin Expressway to SR 932/NW 103 Street in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The hearing will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at the Intercontinental Hotel, Acacia 1 Ballroom, 2505 NW 87 Avenue, Doral, FL 33172. The hearing will begin as an open house from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with a formal presentation at 6:30 p.m.

The ramp lane that connects drivers to eastbound SR 836 from NW 87 Avenue will be closed on Monday, September 10 and Tuesday, September 11 (Wednesday, September 12 alternate) between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The northbound SR 826 ramp to eastbound SR 836 will be closed on Monday, September 10 and Tuesday, September 11 (Wednesday, September 12 alternate) between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

All northbound lanes on SR 826 will be closed beginning Tuesday, September 11 and ending Friday, September 28 (excluding Saturdays and Sundays) from north of West Flagler Street to SR 836 between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six will hold a public hearing about a roadway project along State Road (SR) 972/Coral Way from SW 37 Avenue to SW 13 Avenue in the City of Miami, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Iglesia Bautista Resurrección, 2323 SW 27 Avenue, Miami, FL 33145. The public hearing will be held as an open house. Attendees may arrive at any time from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Graphic displays of the project will be shown and FDOT staff will be on hand to discuss the project and answer questions.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six will hold a public information meeting about a roadway project along SR A1A/Indian Creek Drive from 42 Street to 44 Street and a drainage improvement project at SR A1A/Collins Avenue/Indian Creek Drive along 43 Street. The public information meeting will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at St. Patrick Parish School, Barry Hall, Room 1, located at 3700 North Meridian Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33140.

On Thursday, September 6, all SR 826 westbound lanes and one eastbound lane will be closed from NW 47 Avenue to NW 57 Avenue between the hours of 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. The closures will allow the contractor to install a new electronic sign in the median. All lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. on Friday, September 7, 2012.

The ramp lane that connects drivers to eastbound State Road (SR) 836 from NW 87 Avenue will be closed on Thursday, August 30 and then again from Tuesday, September 4 through Thursday, September 6 between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The northbound SR 826 ramp to eastbound SR 836 will be closed from Tuesday, August 28 through Thursday, August 30 and then again from Tuesday, September 4 through Thursday, September 6, between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. The schedule change is due to Tropical Storm Isaac.

The following closures originally scheduled to begin on Sunday, August 26 have been postponed until further notice.

The northbound SR 826 ramp to eastbound SR 836 will be closed from Monday, August 27 through Thursday, August 30 between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The previously announced closure of SR 986/Sunset Drive/SW 72 Street, between SW 87 Avenue and SW 92 Avenue, will be postponed due to forecasted weather conditions.

The northbound 95 Express lanes, located between State Road (SR) 836 and Miami Gardens Drive, will be closed nightly, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday night, August 26, through Tuesday night, August 28, while workers restripe northbound lanes north of the Golden Glades Interchange, weather permitting.  At least two local lanes will remain open at all times.

The following closures will occur on westbound SR 836 between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. to allow the contractor to work on an overhead bridge.

The northbound SR 826 ramp to eastbound SR 836 will be closed from Sunday, August 26 through Thursday, August 30 between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Starting Monday, August 27, westbound Coral Way will be closed and detoured between Brickell Avenue and South Miami Avenue while the contractor completes the installation of the new sanitary sewer system.  A detour will be used to guide drivers around the work from 9 a.m. on Monday through Sunday, September 9. Eastbound traffic along Coral Way will not be affected.

The eastbound SR 836 ramp to northbound SR 826 will be closed on Friday, August 24 (Saturday, August 25 is the alternate date) between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six will host a kick-off event today at the District Six SunGuide Transportation Management Center as it prepares to launch a campaign to inform drivers in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties of the risks of distracted driving. The “Put it Down” campaign, which targets drivers between 16 and 24, is expected to continue through October with a series of community outreach events throughout the district.

All eastbound and westbound travel lanes on State Road (SR) 112/I-195 from NW 10 Avenue to NW 3 Avenue, including the southbound I-95 exit ramp to eastbound SR 112/I-195 and the westbound SR 112 exit ramp to I-95 south are scheduled to be closed on Friday, August 17 and Saturday, August 18 for bridge widening work. Lane closures will take place Friday from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. and on Saturday from 12 a.m. to 9 a.m.

The northbound SR 826 ramp to eastbound SR 836 will be closed on Monday, August 20 between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

On Saturday, August 18 (Sunday, August 19, alternate), all mainline westbound lanes on State Road (SR) 836 will be shifted to the north by about 100 feet to go on a new bridge over NW 82 Avenue.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six will host an Alternatives Public Workshop for the State Road (SR) 826/Palmetto Expressway Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study. FDOT will present the results of the PD&E Study to date and to obtain input on the alternatives under consideration. The workshop is Tuesday, August 21, 2012, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at St. Thomas University, Convocation Hall, 16401 NW 37 Avenue, Miami Gardens, Florida 33054. The meeting is an open house format with a short presentation at 6:30 p.m.

All northbound lanes on SR 826 will be closed on Thursday, August 16 from north of West Flagler Street to SR 836 between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. The eastbound SR 836 ramp to northbound SR 826 will also be closed during the same time period.

Drivers traveling on eastbound MacArthur Causeway/SR A1A approaching the middle of the MacArthur Causeway Bridge should prepare for an eastbound lane closure followed by a temporary full closure on August 22.

The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department will be performing proactive water pipe repairs that will require lane closures from Sunday, August 12 through Monday, August 20.

On Saturday, August 11, all mainline westbound lanes on State Road (SR) 836 will be shifted to the north by about 100 feet to go on a new bridge over NW 82 Avenue. The shift will start just west of the NW 87 Avenue/NW 12 Street exit ramp and drivers will be shifted back to the existing SR 836 roadway just before NW 87 Avenue.

Closures will be implemented on SR 826 and SR 836 on August 9 and August 10.

All westbound travel lanes along State Road (SR) 112/I-195 between Biscayne Boulevard and NW 10 Avenue are scheduled to be closed Monday, August 6 and Tuesday, August 7, 2012 from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for the installation of an overhead sign structure. This work also includes closing the entrance ramps to northbound and southbound I-95, as well as the North Miami Avenue and the Biscayne Boulevard at NE 38 Street entrance ramps to westbound State Road (SR) 112/I-195.  

All travel lanes along SR 5/US 1/Brickell Avenue Bridge over the Miami River will be closed for bridge repairs. Closures will take place from 10 p.m., Tuesday, August 7 to 6 a.m., Wednesday, August 8.

All westbound travel lanes along State Road (SR) 112/I-195 between Biscayne Boulevard and NW 10 Avenue are scheduled to be closed Monday, August 6 and Tuesday, August 7, 2012 from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for the installation of an overhead sign structure. This work also includes closing the entrance ramps to northbound and southbound I-95, as well as the North Miami Avenue and the Biscayne Boulevard at NE 38 Street entrance ramps to westbound State Road (SR) 112/I-195.

The West Flagler Street ramp to/from SR 826 will be closed on Tuesday, July 24 (alternate night Wednesday, July 25) between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The westbound State Road (SR) 836 loop ramp that connects drivers to southbound SR 826 will be closed Thursday, July 26 (Friday, July 27 is the alternate night) between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six will be hosting a Public Information Meeting for the Bridge Rehabilitation of the State Road (SR) 968/SW 1 Street over the Miami River Bascule Bridge, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 23, 2012 at the Jose Marti Park- Pavilion, located at 362 SW 4 Street, Miami, FL 33130.  This meeting will be held in an open house format that allows the public to arrive at any time from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Aerial maps will be on display for review.

NW 138 Street will be closed in the area underneath the I-75 ramp starting on Tuesday, July 17 through Thursday, July 26 (excluding Saturday and Sunday) between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

The entrance ramps to northbound and southbound I-95 will be closed, including the North Miami Avenue and the NE 38 Street entrance ramps to westbound State Road (SR) 112/I-195 for overhead sign structure repairs. Closures will take place on Wednesday, July 11 from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

The full northbound SR 826 lane closures from north of West Flagler Street to north of SR 836 between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. have been lifted due to the contractor finishing a majority of the work early. Two lanes will continue to be closed from Tuesday, July 10 through Friday, July 13 during the same time period.

The ramp from SR 93/I-75 to southbound SR 826/Palmetto Expressway will be closed Monday, July 9 between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

All eastbound traffic on SR 836/Dolphin Expressway will be detoured to southbound SR 826 from Friday, July 6 through Friday, July 13 (excluding Saturday, July 7) between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. (midnight to 5:30 a.m. on Fridays) to allow the contractor to work on the bridge over the roadway. The SR 826 southbound ramp to eastbound SR 836 will also be closed during this time frame.

All northbound lanes on SR 826 will be closed nightly from north of West Flagler Street to north of SR 836 starting Sunday, July 8 through Saturday, July 14 between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m

The ramp from SR 93/I-75 to southbound SR 826/Palmetto Expressway will be closed Thursday, July 5 and Friday, July 6 between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. (11 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on Friday).

On Monday, July 9, all SR 826 westbound lanes and one eastbound lane will be closed from NW 47 Avenue to NW 57 Avenue between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. The closures will allow the contractor to install a new electronic sign in the median. All lanes will reopen by 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2012.

On Monday, July 2, and Tuesday, July 3, 2012, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will close one eastbound lane and two westbound lanes on State Road (SR) 826/Palmetto Expressway to install the foundation for a new electronic sign in the median. The lanes will be closed between NW 47 Avenue and NW 57 Avenue in each direction. The closure will begin at 7 p.m. and all lanes will reopen by 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 and Wednesday, July 3, 2012, respectively.

Thursday morning, June 28, all eastbound lanes on State Road (SR) 836 will be shifted towards the median between NW 72 Avenue and NW 57 Avenue. In order to complete the shift, three eastbound lanes will be closed from NW 72 Avenue to NW 57 Avenue on Wednesday, June 27 between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The closure of all eastbound and westbound travel lanes on West Flagler Street is being postponed due to rain.  Once the new schedule has been determined, the information will be sent out.

The ramp from SR 93/I-75 to southbound SR 826/Palmetto Expressway will be closed from Monday, June 25 through Friday, June 29 between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. (midnight to 6:30 a.m. on Friday).

All eastbound and westbound travel lanes on West Flagler Street will be closed nightly in the area underneath State Road (SR) 826 on Friday, June 22 (Saturday, June 23 will be the alternate night) between the hours of 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Florida has something new specifically designed for aging drivers. The Florida Guide for Aging Drivers is a handy book available at no cost to senior drivers, compliments of the Florida Safe Mobility for Life Coalition. The Coalition, a group comprised of professionals from 28 organizations, created the guide to give aging drivers a comprehensive resource with the most up-to-date information available.

State Freight & Logistics Administrator Juan Flores will attend the Global Cities Initiative (GCI) and speak on behalf of the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) efforts to enhance Florida’s role as a global hub for freight and logistics.

On Friday morning, June 22, all eastbound lanes on State Road (SR) 836 will be shifted towards the median between NW 72 Avenue and NW 57 Avenue. In order to complete the shift, two eastbound lanes will be closed from NW 72 Avenue to NW 57 Avenue on Wednesday, June 20 and Thursday, June 21 between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The eastbound SR 836 ramp to northbound SR 826 will be closed from Sunday, June 17 to Thursday, June 21 between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The southbound SR 826 ramp to West Flagler Street will be closed on Wednesday, June 13 between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

On June 11, 2012, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin the NW 25 Street Construction project between the Palmetto Expressway/State Road (SR) 826 and NW 89 Court.

Florida Department of Transportation District Six (FDOT) will hold a public information meeting about two roadway projects along SR 823/NW 57 Avenue/Red Road from West 63 Street/NW 116 Street to NW 138 Street and from West 53 Street to West 65 Street. The public information meeting will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Wilde Park, 5405 West 18 Avenue, Hialeah, FL 33012.

The Biscayne Boulevard exit ramp from eastbound SR 112/I-195 will be closed from Tuesday, May 29 through Tuesday, June 5 for bridge widening work. Lane closures will take place Monday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. 

All travel lanes on NW 12 Street between Milam Dairy Road and NW 78 Avenue will be closed nightly from Friday, May 25 through Thursday, May 31 between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. (Excludes Memorial Day Weekend.) 

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is hosting a Minority Business Enterprise Trade Fair from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 18, in Miami.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will host a Kickoff Event for the State Road (SR) 5/N. Roosevelt Roadway Project at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 25, at Bayview Park in Key West.

All north and southbound travel lanes along SR 5/Biscayne Boulevard/US 1 from NE 36 Street to NE 38 Street will be shifted to the east side of the roadway between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. from Monday, April 16 to Thursday, April 19. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction. The contractor for the SR 112/I-195 construction project will be completing bridge widening work in this area.

Starting Wednesday April 25, there will be nightly lane closures along Sunset Drive from SW 84 Place to the Palmetto Expressway while the contractor repaves and restripes the roadway. One lane will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. and at least one lane in both directions will remain open at all times. Drivers may experience delays. Pedestrians and cyclists should be careful when traveling through the area.

All lanes at the westbound SR 112/I-195 exit ramp to southbound I-95 are scheduled to be closed on Monday, April 9 and Tuesday, April 10 to complete bridge widening work. Lane closures will take place Monday and Tuesday from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. To perform this work safely, drivers will be detoured as follows:

On Thursday, March 15, 2012, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will close NW 167 Street between NW 52 Avenue and NW 55 Avenue to widen westbound State Road (SR) 826/Palmetto Expressway and install a new drainage system. The closure will begin at 9 p.m. and will be in effect for about 30 days.

Beginning at 8:00 pm on Friday, March 16, 2012 until 11:00 p.m., Sunday, March 18, 2012, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and CSX Transportation will close the railroad crossing located on SR 934/NW 79/East 25 Street (between NW 37 Avenue and East 10 Avenue) for these days, weather permitting. During this time, all traffic will be detoured away from the NW 79/East 25 Street crossing and directed to follow signs to alternate local streets.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six will hold a public information meeting about a construction project on NW 25 Street from State Road (SR) 826/Palmetto Expressway to NW 89 Court from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the InterContinental Hotel, 2505 NW 87 Avenue, Doral, Florida 33172. The public will have the opportunity to view the project plans and graphic displays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and FDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project and answer questions. 

On Monday, February 6 all eastbound and westbound lanes on SR 836 will close from NW 57 Avenue to NW 72 Avenue between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. to allow the contractor to install an overhead message sign structure. The NW 57 Avenue entrance ramp to westbound SR 836 and the 72 Avenue ramp to eastbound SR 836 will also be closed during this time period.

On Wednesday, February 8 all westbound lanes on SR 836 will be closed from NW 57 Avenue to NW 72 Avenue between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. to fasten the electronic message board to the sign structure. The NW 57 Avenue ramp to westbound SR 836 will also be closed during this time period.

On Friday morning, February 3, traffic on southbound SR 826 will be shifted to the right between SR 836 and West Flagler Street. In order to prepare for the shift, the following closures will occur Thursday night, February 2 between 9:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to begin an intersection enhancement construction project on Monday January 23. The project limits extend along SR A1A/Collins Avenue at 13 Street in the City of Miami Beach.
 

All eastbound traffic on SR 836/Dolphin Expressway will be detoured to southbound SR 826 from Wednesday, January 11 through Friday, January 20 (excluding Sunday) between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. to allow the contractor to place bridge segments over SR 836. The SR 826 southbound ramp to eastbound SR 836 will also be closed during this time frame. Double lane closures will begin at 9 p.m. on eastbound SR 836.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to begin a landscaping project on Tuesday January 17. The project limits extend along SR 826/Palmetto Expressway from SW 32 Street to SW 16 Street, including the interchange at Coral Way/SW 24 Street. 

All eastbound and westbound travel lanes on SR 112/I-195 from I-95/NW 10 Avenue to NW 3 Avenue, including the I-95 southbound exit ramp are scheduled to be closed from Tuesday, January 10 to Thursday, January 12 for bridge widening work. Lane closures will take place from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

All southbound lanes on State Road (SR) 826/Palmetto Expressway will be closed and traffic will be detoured at SW 40 Street/Bird Road from 11 p.m., to 5:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 11, through Friday, January 13, for overhead sign installation. The entrance to southbound SR 874/Don Shula Expressway from southbound SR 826 will also be closed at this time.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to begin a roadway construction project on Monday January 9. The project limits extend along State Road (SR) 9/NW 27 Avenue from NW 103 Street to NW 116 Street in unincorporated Miami-Dade County.
