The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six is developing the design for a reconstruction project along SR 25/US 27/Okeechobee Road from the Broward County Line to west of the HEFT, in Miami-Dade County.

WORK TO BE PERFORMED:

Widening SR 25/Okeechobee Road to provide wider outside shoulders, improve the turning radius at all intersections, provide adequate deceleration length of turn lanes, and construct new acceleration lanes with four-foot wide buffers at all intersections  

Realigning the intersections of SR 997/Krome Avenue and NW 154 Street 
Constructing a new paved frontage road from NW 129 Avenue to NW 127 Avenue
Realigning and widening the frontage road at:
o NW 186 Street 
o NW 17400 Block (west of NW 137 Avenue) 
o NW 137 Avenue to NW 170 Street 
o NW 117 Avenue
Closing the medians opening at:
o NW 127 Avenue 
o NW 17400 Block (west of NW 137 Avenue) 
o Opa-Locka West Airport property 
Constructing a new median opening at NW 129 Avenue
Replacing guardrail along the C-6 Canal (Miami Canal)
Installing guardrail along the median of SR 997/Krome Avenue 
Upgrading signage, pavement markings, signalization, and lighting along the corridor
Installing new Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) along the corridor
 

MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC (MOT):

The MOT will be designed to minimize adverse impacts to local residents and businesses during construction. Detours and temporary lane closures during non-peak hours will have minimal effects on traffic.
