The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six is developing the design for a roadway reconstruction project along SR 907/Alton Road, from 43 Street to east of Allison Road in Miami-Dade County. This project was recently broken up into two segments for construction duration management.  
 
WORK TO BE PERFORMED:
  • Reconstructing the road within project limits
  • Raising the road
  • Widening existing parking lanes from 43 Street to Pine Tree Drive
  • Installing new signs and pavement markings including bicycle facilities
  • Installing new storm water drainage system including curb inlets and three pump stations (one will be designed and built by the City of Miami Beach), with outfalls into the Intracoastal Waterway
  • Upgrading roadway lighting to LED
  • Upgrading signal mast arms
  • Upgrading sidewalks and pedestrian ramps to meet current standards

SR 907/Alton Road from south of 43 Street to north of West 48 Street (430444-1-52-01): Scheduled to begin construction in the spring of 2030.

SR 907/Alton Road from north of West 48 Street to north of 57 Street(430444-4-52-01): Scheduled to begin construction in late 2030.

SR 907/Alton Road from north of 57 Street to Allison Road (430444-2-52-01): Scheduled to begin construction in late 2030.

 

ESTIMATED CONSTRUCTION COST*

  • SR 907/Alton Road from south of 43 Street to north of west 48 Street (430444-1-52-01): $30 million 
  • SR 907/Alton Road from north of West 48 Street to east of Allison Road (430444-2-52-01): $36 million  
  • SR 907/Alton Road from north of 57 Street to Allison Road (430444-2-52-01): $.35 million

MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC (MOT):
 
Work will be done in phases to reduce the effects of construction on the community. Driveways and entrances to residences, condominiums and businesses will remain open.  Traffic lanes and sidewalks will be closed at times for safety reasons. One lane of traffic in each direction will remain open at all times.
