The FDOT mission is to provide a safe transportation system that ensures the mobility of people and goods, enhances economic prosperity and preserves the quality of our environment and communities.

The FDOT vision is to serve the people of Florida by delivering a transportation system that is fatality and congestion free.

FDOT is a decentralized agency in accordance with legislative mandates, composed of seven districts. Each of the districts is managed by a District Secretary. The districts vary in organizational structure, but in general each has major divisions for Administration, Planning, Production and Operations. Also, each district has a Public Information Office and General Counsel Office that report to the District Secretary.

District Six is responsible for planning, designing, building and maintaining all State-owned roadways and bridges in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. The district is home to 2,553,400 people. Its roads are traveled more than 30.8 million miles daily. Whether you are a resident, business operator or a visitor, you can count on us to help you travel through the District.

FDOT Golden Glades Interchange (GGI) Project Lane and Ramp Closures & Detours

The following ramp and lane closures are scheduled between Sunday, April 28, and Friday, May 3, 2024.

 
Nighttime Westbound Closures along SR 112/ I-195/Julia Tuttle Causeway Begin April 28

Beginning Sunday, April 28, there will be a series of nighttime closures of the westbound lanes along SR 112/I-195/Julia Tuttle Causeway.The closures will occur nightly, Sunday, April 28 through Tuesday, April 30, from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. All lanes will reopen from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., daily. The closures are necessary to complete work on the new overhead sign structure. During the work SR A1A/MacArthur Causeway will be used as the alternate route. The eastbound lanes will remain open at all times. A detour will be established to guide drivers around the work. Traffic will be detoured as follows:

 
SR A1A/South Roosevelt Boulevard Roadway Project to Begin Construction the week of Sunday, April 28, 2024

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six is scheduled to begin a roadway project the week of Sunday, April 28, 2024, on S. Roosevelt Boulevard from Riviera Canal Bridge at Go Lane to SR 5/US 1/N. Roosevelt Boulevard. The project is one of five separate construction projects slated for Monroe County, which includes the project currently underway on S. Roosevelt Boulevard along Smathers Beach.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is launching the 2024 "Ride Smart Florida" safety campaign in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties to promote motorcycle safety. The campaign emphasizes making smart decisions for the well-being of riders and road users. It will run from May through June, using media ads, social media, and PSAs to promote safety messages.
